Flagship abilities
It would be kind of cool if your flagship got some extra ability, perhaps based on class, and if you could designate that flagship (and maybe choose its ability from several) just as you can choose your capital world.

You most definatly should be able to pick your flag ship if you got 2 ships of equel level... not sure about extra ablities... but at least for flavor...

Although... it would be an intresting mod idea if you could give your flagship (lv 5+ only maybe) (pick one) infallable jumpdrive or immune to disables(ion bolt, phase out, and so forth[not armistise i would guess])... or 5% moar shield mitigation... or phase missles dont go through shields, or immune to negative buffs (vertigo, designate target, and so forth)... you know, just a little something that makes it slightly harder to kill (since capital ships seem to just die alot)

If nothing else, perhaps buff the flagship's health/DPS...
Bad Idea. As we know from movies(Star Wars-Death Star, Star Tek-Enterprise, Space Balls- Weird room-maid thingy), whenever you call something a flagship it gets blown up. So if you promote one of your ships to flagship status it is only a question of time untill some ill-minded jerk tries to smash it...
true, but just modify the stats of it, don't modify the mesh/texture and unless they are paying attention to DPS (and have figured out exactly where you are in research), they won't know the difference...
Happens all the time in Sins currently. Your highest level capital ship is the most likely to die first.
Flagship designation is kind of silly currently. It doesn't actually do anything, and only serves to generate discussion for a feature that doesn't exist ![]()
How is this any different from normal gameplay? I thought the point of Sins was generally to blow things up.
They should get a defensive bonus and abilities that boost the entire fleet. I've done something similar with my own modding. You can't per say designate a flagship but you can call in one of five admirals or command ships that have slightly higher cap defensive stats but more fleet boosting abilities. For example one of the them has increased sheild regen for all ships in a large radius in place of a more offensive ability that only the capital ship could use before.
