What does militaristic mean?

On the foreign report where it lists ++ and - next to stuff I see -militaristic.  I had always thought this meant *I* was being miitaristic and thus they didn't like me.

Currently though I have zero military in the game I'm playing and I'm nowhere near anybody.   So now I'm confused.  What causes this relations negative exactly?  I tried searching but sadly I couldn't find anything.

From what I've read in past posts, "Militaristic" is a value assigned to the other race.  They are the one's who are militaristic, not you.

If you are, either intentionally or not, being a relatively peaceful nation, the AI calculates a conflict of interest between a peaceful race and militaristic one, even though I've rarely had that be a problem.

The larger problem (or feature) that you're digging into here is the basic fuzziness of the info displayed on that list. As far as I know, there's no detailed official explanation of any of it, either strings like "Militarisitic" or the pluses and minuses. I'm sort of hoping that by GC3 the UI will be more helpful if you at least have a decent intelligence level with the given civ.

My sloppy impression of the "Militaristic" thing is that DamienShade's basically correct, and that only some of the AIs show the trait. For a while, I thought it was limited to the 'evil-aggressive' civs like the Drengin and the Yor. Now, I mostly think that any AI civ can end up in war-monger mode and the "Militaristic" diplo flag is just a warning that you look either vulnerable or threatening to that particular civ.

So it can go away if you stop looking vulnerable?

I don't know. The only times I remember it going away is when the AI civ went away, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

We need a good number-watcher with a diplo obssession to match Loupdinour's long-term research into the new espionage system. But this version of GalCiv is on the long road into the sunset, and the forums are crowded with other games & whatnot, so it might take a while for one of those really smart folks to spot this thread.

Let them come, they're no match for the current iteration and whatever is planned or delayed by ANY other developpers strategic alliances.

Militaristic?

Lemme resist the temptation of straying off-topic too much; you have a reputation of being a destructive force in the galaxy - Evil races try to prevent you from annihilating everything else first - you attack more often than you defend against anyone - you invade planets rather than colonize what is within your homeworld reach - Neutral and Good races hate you enough to stay away and outwit your best researchers or diplomats while outgunning your best fleets.

+ proven by behavior(s).

- Too.

If you mean "don't hold your breath for a hard-numbers answer," I won't try to disagree even though I still want a scrap of hope. Some folks really do seem to do a ludicrous amount of methodical observation of GC2 behavior...

Read This or That.

We swept the floor clean for Elemental & Demigod & SoaSE, now it's time for a pay-off worth a Krynn driven espionage edge & MORE.

From my POV, you're in Inscrutable Mode again. Neither OP in those sprawling threads seems directly relevant, and you didn't quote any particular replies.

All I was typing about was hoping to see a *player* do a research project on the *current* ++ -- stuff on the Diplo page that is as thorough as Loupdinour's study of the new spying system. I'm a mooch that way. It's often easier to ask a good question than it is to give a good answer.

Contextual interpretation & irrelevant as it may seem to you...

I was referring to the above only with earlier comments as i believe i shared with enough precision whatever my opinion was with the OP *Militaristic* questioning.

GC3 will rise faster than you could blink at Frogboy's or SD staff plans for *IT* or even through reading up anything found in the links i gave to prove a point of daily solar trajectories.

Inscrutable? Here's to hoping -- that some day you'll find ANY semantics enjoyable. Check your attitude at noon, maybe you'll also reach for Zenith respect about other's wording (however complex or limited) and figure that when night falls for all, dawn follows on understanding.

Decipher this, GW Swicord; Intelligence is a two way street, skill or language is asphalt... ride along or H_eat my dust.
