A Round On Me

Lets Party in Michigan

As a long time supporter of Stardock I found out that Stardock is located in Michigan which is where I will be in about 2 weeks. As such I would love to support you guys for all your hard work on Demigod and Elemental with a round at the bar on me. This would be for the years of hard work in providing me with both entertainment and useful products like Multiplicity and I would like to encourage Stardock to stay in business for a long time to come as one of the best modern development studios since I cut my teeth on MicroProse games over 10 years ago.

Those of you reading this, if we can get a small something going I think it would be great to show the development group some much needed support from the fan base and I wouldn't mind if only a few unofficial devs showed up just for drinks and a good time to talk about what there doing and whats next.

So who's with me?  If we can build some interest in this I think it would make a great party.

And dev's, if you see this feel free to tell me what your favorite spot to meet up is and if we could try to make this a great get togeather with the fans!

Wow, some poeple will do anything to get in alpha.

Just kidding, nice thought, and if I lived in the area I would probably do the same - well I don't drink but I'd spring for lunch or something, if for no other reason than to watch Boogiebac make things out of toothpicks.

Lucky those who live "near" Stardock and can stalk them...

Actully im from washington state, Ill be in town for family reasons but when I found out the team was local I figured I could offer at least.

This has nothing to do with geting in the alpha phase.  I put my pree order in many many months ago before the date was even given (I think I've preeordered 3 stardock games now)  Really its about thanking them for all there hard work.

Well, I live in Columbus, Ohio, which is maybe a day away: well within pilgrimige distance. But, alas, I won't be legally able to drive for another year or so.....

Well, I'm in Ontario...so I'd have to get out by dogsled to get there on time.

From Columbus also.  They should open a new office here....

Really.... well, I suppose I don't technically live in the city itself: I'm from Upper Arlington (Yet there is no Lower Arlington.....). Good school (I suppose), nice library, HUUUGE drinking problem (not me, my neighbors!).

That conjures up some awesome mental imagery of a bunch of computer nerds dressed up in robes kneeling in the Stardock parking lot and bowing towards the studio.

Near Dayton Ohio, so also within pilgrimige distance. :D

Not that I would be able to come to any such event... Still a teen. :(

I have relatives in Dayton. Like all the rest of my family, they are stark raving mad. Aunt has around 50 cats, all of them at least 7 years old. The only exceptions to this rule of insanity are my maternal grandparents, and me.

Should setup a paypal button for the charity "Stardock booze". :D

I've done that before(for the staff of Gamestorm a board gaming event), but I don't want to set anything up till we hear from one of the reps if this is doable. If it is doable then I be honored to setup the event and put a booze link for those who cant show in person(or to young to get in the door).

During StarSiege Tribes, I constantly promised 4 sixpacks for the dev-team if I got into testing..

I did, and sent them, the posting was waaaaaay more than the brewskies.. :P

In 2 weeks, eh?  I'll ask around but it may just come down to how much of a crunch mode we're in, unfortunatly :(

Thanks for the offer, Glasyra!  I'll keep ya posted!

Thanks BoogieBac!

I wasent trying to do anything that would Kill your crunch time, just shooting for a friday night event for the community to show there support for you guys and girls who make our life great.  Lets say the 26th of june.  I dont know any good places near your offices so if you could sugest one that would be great.  Since a good chunk of the team is marryed lets say right after work (would that be around 6?)  Ill give the bartender what ever the community donates and everyone with a stardock nametag gets to drink till it runs out?

If you do get the Ok for it let me know and Ill make a post to stickey up top, compleate with a donate button.

Are you sure it's wise to be giving them alcohol before the Alpha/Beta is released? ;P

So how does one donate to this little shindig? There's no way I'd be able to make it out there from California (though with more notice I would certainly try!) but I'd certainly like to raise a toast and offer a round to the people responsible for SOASE and Elemental, and I even liked what little time I had with GalCiv 2 enough to throw a bone to anyone who worked exclusively on that. I really appreciate Stardock's Beta process, and your frequent interaction with your fanbase(I'm looking at you, Frogboy and Boogie!) and I like the idea of showing the team how much we appreciate their hard work and their attitude. I suppose I could donate the money I was going to spend buying all of GalCiv to increase my chances of getting into the Alpha. XD

Soon as we get the Ok there will be a donate link put up, (most likly a new post with a stickey)  Im sure that since Boogie knows that the fans want to put something to geather we should get word in a few days.

Current sugested date is 26th of June

You were aware that the Alpha is scheduled for the 25th? The next day sounds like a nice opportunity to relax a little. ;P

Im flexable :)  It could be a great day to get out after puting out an alpha, or a really bad day after puting out demigod :P

Either way drinks should be appreciated. ;)

Hah, I'll be in AA then too. If you guys do get together, add one more to the party list! Don't know if I can afford a round of drinks for everyone, but I can at least pay for my own!

Well Elemental (alpha?) is coming soon, I tossed boogie a PM to see if he got word weather we can have a small unoffical get togeather (nothing more then a few devs just showing up at a bar and forgeting to take there work badge off)  Hopfully he says yes to this.

I also started thinking that Stardock needs to have its own fanfest, thay have the fans, all the games so far make money and having gone to the EvE-Online fanfest I can say you dont need a lot of people to go for there to be a ton of fun. (about 1000 fans went to the Eve fanfest last year)

I know Stardock is smaller then CCP (I think anyway) but when you have a rabid fanbase behind you thats a great thing.

Yep they are smaller than CCP which I think has 3 or 4 studios...Man I would love to go to a fanfest for Eve...

Anywho Stardock fanfest would we kick ass cause 1. I live near em which means I could go and 2. they got tons of fans it could work! :D

If you get the plans together for the get together count me in!

looks like I can't come.   I got a contract with THQ so I'm working somewhere now  that does not allow for me to randomly move around the country.
