AI Dodging, connection info, I'm a jerk

or how I learned to stop caring and love the bug.

Maybe this makes me a jerk, if so I can only hope that everyone starts doing it so I'm not wasting anyone's time.

When I queue for a Pantheon game I wait in the game window and don't tab out, or wander away from the PC. I stick around and watch because by doing so I can avoid those annoying AI's that the team has opted to leave in ranked matches (just a disclaimer: this of course only works for the 'intentional' AI matchups, not when a player drops during loading). I've memorized the names of the AI players; Rayemy, Roncor, Hintani, Nacer and friends, and hit the cancel button as soon as I see one of them in the connection info. Which means that the human players in that game, which the matchmaking service was taking so long to match, now have to start all over. As annoying as having AI's in a ranked match is, this can be abused for semi-easy wins in a manner which -really- needs to be addressed.

Not only have I memorized the AI players names, but also which side they play for in the current Pantheon! In other words, since I play Light this tourney if I see Rayemy in the connection box I disconnect as fast as possible to avoid being paired with an AI. On the other hand if I see Hintani or Weray, I know that the AI is going to land on Dark so I could stay in the match for an easy win. If I really wanted to grief, how hard would it be for me to join only games that had an AI on the opposing team?

This really does make me feel like a jerk, but it's such a glaring flaw that it's hard to ignore. My closing opinion statement is that having AI's in Pantheon matchmaking doesn't make it any easier to get into a game, it just makes more work for the player who has to retry until there are no AI's. I believe you can just start the game with a /noAI switch in your shortcut if you want to avoid being matchmade with AIs completely.

I thought that was never implemented and only discussed.

That's what I thought as well, DeadMG. Does this actually work? This of course doesn't eliminate the possibilty of players not enabling /noai and instead farming AI pantheon matches.

I enabled it the first day it was in the patch notes, and it has never worked for me. Also if a player d/c's and a person on the team has /noai that players character should leave.

Pretty sure it went in but you might need to be the player "hosting" for it to work.

Indeed, the /noAI switch does not work as intended if the intention was to avoid being matchmade with AIs completely - Since you can still end up being matched with AIs when using the switch.

hmmm, that's not ideal, since you can't elect to be the host

The OP as it exists in Pantheon and Skirmish games is a giant blindspot
