Feeling kidded

I have been playing Dota for 2.5 years and just bought this game

ANd I'm totally disappointed:

I'M from Germany and ther are no european servers

How can a company release multyplayer-focused game in europe without any well working servers?

Furthermore this agme seems like a simple clone which misses variety

About 3 guys modded Dota ad it's a well balanced game and works well on BLIZZARD's BNEt platform without any trouble in pings NAT or whatever

I PAID 50 euros(yes thats hard money in hard times!!!) for a marketing gag

Allthough I'M a fan of supreme commander this game is a total mess

Maybe I'm bad tempered but I expected a client server and a nice multiplayer game

Instead of this it's a fast milking-money-cow for some greedy asho..

I'm not an expert on Demigod, having just bought it today, but it's my understanding that there aren't any American servers either. It's all client-to-client networking. You not having good pings to people just means you're not finding people who live in Europe to play with.

The game is P2P, there are no 'company' hosted servers.

They didn't. Just because you purchased a game and had it shipped to Europe does not mean that it has been released in Europe. The international release is still to come.

And to clarify, there are proxy servers which help players connect to one another. But no, the game is not hosted by the company. It is hosted by you.

Wait. I am seeing conflicting information now. Has the game been officially released in Europe? I would have expected a bigger announcement.

I am from the UK and I have no lag problems playing with people from the U.S.A or Europe... only games I get high pings on are the aussie ones, so I avoid them. You must be some noob who doesn't know how to forward ports.

Agreed.  I live in the widwest US and get decent 150-200ms pings to EU hosted games

First of all, I'm going to follow your method of discussion by simply saying that Demigod is NOT a simple clone. If you're saying this, you've definitely haven't played Demigod enough. Not your fault here though, since it seems like you did have issues with getting games going.

Secondly, DotA is a Warcraft 3 map. Saying that it "works well with Blizzard's platform" is a tautology and is thus pointless. Would anyone expect a map created by the official map editor for a game to not work with the game engine?

What your point is, I think, is that Battle.net works great and indeed it does. Blizzard had a long time to make it what it is today (as well as their implementation of P2P). Demigod and Impulse are still young compared to Battle.net. In time, their usability will no doubt be improved.

Careful Rino, someone might find your suggestion insulting.

Please, for crying out loud, stop comparing DotA and Demigod.

I live in Belgium, and I've been playing this game (not much, I admit) for over 2 weeks now, and besides some connection problems now and then with one or two players in a game, I haven't had any real problems. In total, I've played about 10 games online I think and enjoyed almost all of them... (Ihate playing two to one...)

I don't know where you've bought your game, but I bought mine for about 34 euros directly from Stardock using Impulse and I think it's worth every cent I spent on it. I've given my 50% coupon to a friend who now has bought it even cheaper.

Next time you buy a game, you might compare a bit more before you buy

It might have been the collector's edition. But that's still a heck of a lot of money.

I paid like 25 Euro before shipping for the regular edition.

Its better this way, the dota community is arguably the worst gaming community around. Better if they compare it and stay there, meanwhile demigod will build a new community.

The DotA community can be pretty bad at times, but for the most part in my experience that's been a vocal minority.  And of course people are going to compare DotA and Demigod, they're both AoS style games.  It's like people comparing UT and Half-life or any other FPS.

That said, to the OP:  If they were money grubbing I don't think they'd have worked 108 hours in a week trying to fix things.  Frogboy has done the most impressive job I've ever seen when it comes to customer service, as his posts and openness with the community singlehandedly has kept me interested and willing to wait out any problems that the game has had since launch.  I couldn't even play online for the first few weeks, yet I stuck it out and wasn't even all that upset thanks to his posts/talking to him in irc.  Now I can more often than not get into a game, and the lag doesn't hit too often.  I'm in the U.S., so that does change things some from your situation, but I bet if you hold out for the next few updates things will get better.  If not, they've been willing to do refunds for anyone who asks, so if you'd rather have your money back I'm sure they'll help you out.

You see the custom games with "EU" in the title?  Join those.

It's the SAME community.  I don't get how this mysterious "Dota community" is different from the leavers we see nearly every game.

TDA are jackasses yes, but I hardly call them the "Dota community"

The point is that this is a P2P game, there are no servers in Europe or anywhere else that hose games.  They *do* have proxy servers around the world including Europe but they don't host any games.

I've played plenty of games with guys from Europe and Russia in them and their pings are just fine under 200.  No troubles.

well then

is there any ''official' statement by the producer concering the refund?

Used search and google and i wasn't able to find official treads or statements

If they exsist i could copy it and hand it out to the shop seller and penetrate him till he gives me my money back

If it's ture that stardock gives refund I'll keep this company in good mind as i did when they released supreme commander

But this game is not new and btw. yes, one should compare this game to dota as they took the idea and developers did compare their game to dota in interviews

Concerning ping: just had a nice debug crash , so it's not the worst problem...

hmm.  according to google, it took .34 seconds to figure out how to begin the refund process.  maybe your google is different than the one i use?

regardless, contact support@stardock.com to begin the refund process.

1. DG is not DOTA.

2. There are NO servers, this is P2P.

3. This game just came out and DOTA has been out for years and years, of course it's more polished.

4. I can't believe I still browse these forums. It seems like 90% of the people on here are being told how stupid they are by the other 9%. The last 1% might actually post some useful information.

Oh and Isoproturon, they can monitor how much you played the game. So if you are unable to play reliably they will refund you. If you were able to play for hours and hours then obviously the game works and may not refund you.

Email support@stardock.com and cry to them, not us.
