Bootskin XP skins to Bootskin Vista

I have found several Bootskin files for the XP version that I would love to use in the Vista version. Anyway to convert these?

In a way, yes. You can rename the bootskinXP file to a .zip file and extract it. This will give you the image used, the progress indicator and ini file. From that image you should be able to make a Vista bootskin using BootSkin Pro.

Please get permission from the original artist if you wish to reupload them.Have fun.

OK ... so how do I create without uploading now?

I tried to create, it tried to upload. It also said it could not create it. Any suggestions?

Bootskins for Vista require the upload.

If I remember corectly, one has to have a live internet connection in order to create the bootskin.

I wouldn't personally recommend using the image from an xp bootskin to make your vista bootskin. Xp bootys are 4 bit (16 color) .bmp images which tend to look bad.

Rather find a wallpaper that you like and use that to create your bootskin.

Finding a wallpaper isn't an easy task. I like the Faux MacOS screens, the jazzed up Windows Vista (or XP) screens (Gamers Edition, Taz Edition, etc.). Any hints in this regard?

Any good programs in which to make my own wallpapers like this?

Cool. GIMP works just fine for creating these. You can set the palette to 1024x768 and easily cut and pace details you want, add text, etc.

Look up my Games for Windows one. :) This is easy.
