WIP - One Tribe

Of course, it's a long way from even being started...just playing around with ideas right now, but I thought I would share.

Karen, if you can handle the truth, I would be glad to fire up the lappy and give it a run. I gotta warn you that you won't get any sugar coating from this old fart. I am picky as hell and might overwhelm you with my opinion.

I would have to install impulse, WB, and so on so expect the pickiest critique ever.

You better be nice to her. Honest, but nice. Or I tell the Missus.

Night Train, I would be honored if you would give me a sugar-free opinion on this.

You of all people should know not to get on my bad side. If the missus hears anything about this, you will pay dearly. ;P

Downloading impulse now.

I'm on XP. These are mostly opinions as the skin is well built. Ignore them at will. :)

Remove the "please wait" text from the loading screen. The loading screen is well done otherwise.

Your system text color is a beigy color and should be black to make reading text as easy a possible.

The text in the allprograms menu is harsh with the 3d shadow.

The animation in the start panel could use some more frames. It's a bit choppy.

Don't be afraid to add some more turquoise throughout the skin. It suffers from being too beigy throughout. The start panel is sort of bland in this regard. The text in the start panel is a bit hard on the eyes as it sits on the textured background. You use a dark brown on the toolbar/ menu bars. It might help to use that a a background behind the text in the start panel and switch to a light colored text or something like that. Perhaps the light beige you use on the toolbar mouseovers. Regardless, try to avoid having text on textured backgrounds.

The taskbar seems out of whack. The right side carries all the way past the edge of the screen yet the left side has an end to it.

The scrollbar/buttons should be "raised" to make them stand out a bit more.

Otherwise you have come a long way Baby! Great skin.

I wanted to have the dark text with a light beige shadow underneath, like I do for the taskbar buttons, so it looks like it's burnt into leather, but for some reason, the shadow text isn't showing up on the start menu.  I have the exact same font on the start menu popup menu, but it shows up on the popup menu, but not on the start menu.

Is it not possible to use font effects on the start menu, or what the heck is up with that?

Correct. Shadow doesn't work in the start panel last I was skinning. And it honestly doesn't come across the way you want. It's a good skin. No need to sacrifice function over form in this case. |-)

O.K. thanks.  You're critique is terrific...just the sort of thing I needed to polish it up.  I appreciate it.

*Groan*  For the second time today, it looks like my nose is being rubbed in the XP dirt.  If only computer fairy would grace me with the gift of a new computer with Vista on it!  Oh well....at least what I have is paid for, and I haven't had a BSOD lately.  Gotta be grateful for small mercies.
