My favorite line from that was when it's getting pounded to pieces, you click to withdraw and the stupid guy says "Take it slow" LMAO classic.

Patience, Pontius. Those Apolyton folks have a numerical advantage that is hard to take on with brute force unless we crank out a lot more games per player then we are doing now. First, GROSS has to win the War of the South Seas instead of just the battles. Once we get a decisive victory there, we mercilessly raid those Euro ports. Then, our psyops division distracts the Apolyton geeks with irresistable software and sci-fi videos. Once distracted, we sneak up on their heavily manned compound and overtake them.

Apolyton is the I-League of the Metaverse. Lots of members, but few that are particularly strong. In short, their power is ephemeral. :p

Ellestar,

I see you as the de-facto leader of Apolyton here. Are you also working hard evangelising in the Apolyton board to swing more Civ players over to play Galciv?
RayChua,

There is plenty GalCiv over at Apolyton, no need for any evangelising. ;)

Umh, looks like Apolyton is taking over the GalCiv galaxy. :) Good, I came here from a link in the Apolyton forum.
:)

He's the cheerleader of Apolyton.

Peter,

I see many Apolyton Overlords but only 10 of them seem to be playing regularly. Ellestar definitely needs to practice his cheerleading routines over there more.

RayChua,

So far as I can tell, there seem to be quite a few Apolytoners splitting their time between The Civs (1, 2 & 3), GalCiv, Rise of Nations, GalCiv and other games. Perhaps they don't devote as much of their time to this one game? Don't forget a lot of "Civvers" are hardcore Civvers who keep playing Civ very regularly for years thus cutting into playtime.

I think there are going to be plenty of hardcore GalCivers too! :) We will see in a few years. Umh, Stardock will have to stop this free upgradingand start developing an expansion pack to get the money to stick around to keep us happy over the long haul for that to happen.

Yep, those Apolyton guys are hard core gamers. Once they concentrate their effort on one game, they are unstoppable. That be their weakness in the end. So, time to start producing those fake copies of Civ 4 to get them all in a lather so that they temporarily get distracted from Galciv, then we jump them! :D

I'm not. Moreover, you can see that Staffa tries to get 1st place on metaverse - so he's clearly focusing his efforts on GalCiv. I, on the other hand, trying to improve my broad strategy skills.

By the way, that means 'cheerleader'?

And i think that someone else will be better leader of our empire - my english isn't so good to be a good leader. LDICesare? Don't you want to be our leader?

I'm sure you are aware that the European Alliance is now first again. I wish they would update that galactic map some more.

A closely run contest, perhaps I should upload some results tonight then ;) Nice to see some friendly competition

I'm a Poly Dude but not hardcore with GalCiv (for the moment, anyway) since Rise of Nations came about. I do think, though, that the expansion pack in the summer along with the incremental AI tweaks will bring me back into the fold!

P.S. I tend not to play for score, but if these other upstarts get me going, I'll have to get Medieval on y'all. :)

Gesh Ellestar, you think you can go 3 posts without
mentioning your misguided and naive impressions of me?

Trying to cast my goal as in direct oppisistion of your
goal of broading your strategy skills is both a logical
fallacy and an uncalled for attack. It reeks of
jealously, though I wont pretend to fathom what your
agenda actually is.

From your earlier posts I thought you were a pretty
level headed guy with some very good insights into
gaming theory, but this is getting old fast. I've been
around the internet gaming community sense 91 and I
dont need to go here again, so please lay off.

Ok if you are that expirienced (i'm just started to play computer games in 91 (including TBS)), then why you are focusing so much on GalCiv? Really, your number of games in GalCiv gives you mostly only GalCiv expirience. Also, it's not much you can learn from a singleplayer game. That's just my IMHO. But i respect you, you are not playing on Crippling for a better score.

Really, i'm just training my skills in game theory on GaiCiv - i want to move to a "High league". At least it was a starting plan. Now a lot of distractions (like metaverse) lure me away from this plan.

About my temper... It's really horrible.

If you want the truth, its like the niccatine patch.
Stepping down the competitive level.

I was very addicted to age of empires/rise of rome, etc
brutally competitive in those games, raising all the
way to number one on the zone. Even got hired
fulltime by microsoft to playtest age of kings expansion for play balance(im in the credits). Reason
I moved out to Seattle area from Michigan, loved it so
much I stayed out here when the project ended.

I did in fact flunk out of school several times due to
my gaming addiction and im now back in school trying
to focus my addiction on games that are not so time
consuming while i finally finish up school.

I really love true multiplayer games, and I can go on
for books about the theories behind it and in fact I
have written alot on the subject for boards such as
these. But I also want a real life and like an alcholic im drinking alot of coffee(single player
games) trying damn hard to avoid the multiplayer games.

I was also number one for awhile in some moo2 ladders,
but that was a gaming community even smaller then this
one. Though it was also an awesome community, but of
course it was also real multiplayer.

And I did the Evercrack and the Muds that predated it.

The thing about playing against humans, is there is no
trick a human wont beat sooner or later(ussually sooner).

And so to be the best you have to play all the time
against the best. When I was number 1, I was literally
playing(or talking about playing with other players)
8-12 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thats what it took
for me to be that good, and it left almost no time
for anything else, and I dont want that anymore.
