Um to be brief, will sim speed read high, even thoug the graphics if set to high lag the game. Therefore the game will lag.
sim speed is based off of graphics but also processor speed and ram amount and speed, slow ram and minimal ram can slow down games as well
Your CPU will probably effect sim speed the most - even if you run graphics settings all right down you can still get bad sim speed.
Still Simspeed sometimes works pretty odd. I have a fairly decent pc and can run the game smoothly with everything maxed till the last moments of the battle even with a mass amount of Units on the screen. (Nearly no fps drop). Yet my simspeed is pending between 3 and 5.
Now in different games people accuse me of lagging their game because of my low sim speed (we all have low pings 50-80), because mine is displayed as the lowest. Sometimes there is some kind of frequent lag in online games but mostly there isn't any, even with my sim speed at 3-5.
Am I lagging their games or is this some kind of bug?
Keep an eye on the maps you are playing too, some of the maps play much worse than others. I don't know the names of all of the maps but the small blueish snake map seems to run the best.
If someone is blaming you for lagging then press tab and check your sim speed and your latency. If your sim speed is below 2 then you will start to slow everyone down, if your latency is high then you might slow everyone down too.
If you have crap fps that technically shouldn't effect other people - seem speed is the big one though, if one person is at a-1 sim speed, then EVERYONE has to play at that speed regardless of how good their PC is.
I keep hearing people talk about sim speed. What is that, and how do you measure it?

It's basically a measure of how fast you can run the game, from my experience if you drop below 2 then you will start to notice it, below 1 and negative you will really feel things slow down.
It is quite separate to your FPS, and in this engine seems to be more of a bottleneck than the graphics.
I noticed if i put sound on low i stoped lagging really bad. I also changed the graphics. Hmmm who knows
Yeah some people have sound driver issues with this game, and changing the sound settings (low without reverb) can help, or starting the game with /nosound in a shortcut.
My sound drivers seem to be okay as this didn't make much difference, maybe added one to my sim speed for a while.

I feel really fooled buying this game, my simspeed starts with +2 and within a minute it is lower than -2
My Video Card settings are set to the lowest
On the back of the game it says that you need
Processor: 2,4GHz
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Hard drive: 8 GB
Video Card: 128 MB 3D
I have
Processor: dual core 2,2GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM 800MHz
Hard Drive: 200 GB
Video Card: Club3D Radeon HD 3650 1024MB GDDR2
Could someone please tell me whats wrong, please dont speculate, please only say what you know
