To Demigod Pirates

Demigod pirates, if you enjoy the game you should buy it. $40 may seem insignificant to a corporation, but as in democratic elections, it adds up.

Purchasing Demigod will support 2 companies (GPG and Stardock) who have confirmed a dedication to improvement. It will encourage updates and expansions. It will lead other companies to follow suit. It will help in bettering a product you already enjoy.

Also, to the Demigod pirates: You probably have like 4 World of Warcraft accounts.  And yet, you have been freed from that game by who? By Demigod! And yet you can't spend less money than you spend in one month on a terrible waste of time, to permanently play a quality game legitimately, a game that took some guts to make? I know I would be afraid of Guinsoo or Icefrog suing me if I made this game, and yet, someone had to do it because DotA ain't going nowhere with its 6 year old graphic engine and bad UI.

Buy Demigod! Thank you.

Ya, I quit dota cus of the resolution, couldnt put up with it anymore.  I need to see more.  Supcom and Demigod are amazing for that.

Agree'd

I did download this game first to try it out. After reading about the company and as well as them not putting crazy anti anything software on it i went out and purchased it and i know MANY people have *reading other forums regarding same topic*

Reward companys that reward the user without putting a lot of sh@#t on their PC,.. buy the game

In short pirater's will always pirate.. HOWEVER most all pirater's will go out and buy the game to support good companys who care about the user.

Yes, please pay for the game, it really does give the producers and developers a chance to improve the experience for everyone. Beg, borrow, hell sell your liver to medical science for the money (thats was a joke, don't actually do that..) , it's only $40.

Looks like I'm stalking Othello threads, I'm not honestly, just supporting a worthy thread.

Ha, you figure with all the money they aren't spending maybe they can open the wallet once in a while =p

Too much money spent on fast food I spose. They can't pirate that.

I got yelled at for laughing too loud at work. lol.

I stand corrected :D

I have a hard time believeing you will turn anyone over to buying the game with this thread. Most pirates who pirated this game are most probably doing so cuz they have a cash shortage,  it would be a whole lot easier to just buy this game (updates, accounts etc).

I preordered demigod myself and if they fix the issues shortly, I will support stardock on the next game also. If not, I will feel like a fool for pre-ordering this broken game, and even more so for recommending it to people ;)

It'll be fixed. And I got 4 more people lined up to play.

DG will be fine.

This is one I feel strongly about.. Gas Powered Games and Stardock have not screwed me in the sense that they produce good games that I enjoy and don't put stupid crap DRM into their products (as in spore.. which on top of DRM was a damn crappy game I paid 50 dollars for).  Keep the good games coming GPG..

Your opinion is wrong, then. There's a large amount of people on these forums who have admitted to pirating Demigod before buying it.

I don't pirate. I just buy games. Now I hope they fix my multiplayer problem which I've had ever since launch. Single-player is still a blast, though.

They could have made a global release date.. That would have helped a bit since the game is still 14 days away from hitting the stores here..

Not that it is such a big deal with all the connection issues and what not. But there is still the principle of things.

You really think people are generally good? Sorry, I'm not the one with the wrong openion.

I too downloaded a copy of the game. I too payed to download it AGAIN and followed that up by deleting the pirated one.

Now... that doesnt mean I feel I have justified pirating the game in the first place, but to be honest like many new musicians are doing nowadays starting yourself off advertising in the "free" market that is our internet you tend to get a wee bit more boost out of it.

I hope this issue with the large number of pirates brings more customers overall to the game than it would have otherwise had. I would not be surprised if it does. Keep makin great games guys!

hmmm, unfortunatly, in a wide amount of case, the pirating thing is not  a "money shortage", but a "why spend 40$ when i can have it free? i'm smart... bwhahahaha"

Yet i usually am on the side of download first, then buy, but this time, i just bought the preorder, and put alll my hope ine the game, and i was not disapointed, because, except the multiplayer connection issues... i have to admit that the game itself is a lot close to bug-free, when you get to play the game, not much is to be said about issue in the gaming, it is quiet balanced, not much bug ruining your life...

Pirates will just get the usual "solo" part, and not the enjoyement of the real game... too bad for em

Well to be comepeltly honest i Pirated My copy 2 days ahead of launch :) well ... I was intrigued by the idea and the treilers (even considered preorder) but then I kinda looked at it closer and more carefully .. as in - its a new dota and wavered ... but after dloading it and playing on hamachi I was hooked and bougt it immediatly on realease :) .... exept I dont play it now because of conenction issues (spend as much time getting into a games as playing it .. even then I get a lot of DC with 1 -2 .. all players ... the usual stuff everyone is complaining abaut) and I'm really frustrated .. but its not like 'give me back my money' but 'god damit fix it already so I can play!!!' :D

The ESL had a little "quiz". The first 500 users who get through this quiz are getting some demikeys for Demigod. So I hope we´ll see more players online :)

Yeah 40 bucks isn't bad for one of the funnest and prittiest games lol.  Worth it for multiplayer!  For the multiplayer problem, i started playing last night, and it'll log me in a game within 2 or 3 minutes so that's not bad.  I know they're fixing stuff which is cool.  Gettin better and better, and the pantheon and stats are cool! :)

I think the fact that over 100,000 people downloaded the game before it's street date means Demigod has spiked a lot of peoples interest. In my general web going experience most of the piraters I've come across admit to downloading a game as sort of a full demo - games aren't cheap and companies like EA Games can use their large budgets to produce a lot of really good looking promotional material and sucker you in. Take a kook at SPORE. Greatest concept for a video game ever, amazing technology and Will Wright as lead designer. I bought it day one, and haven't played it since. Somehow they managed to not only mess it up big time they also ruined it for their customers with their DRM.

Once people get a taste for Demigod's multiplayer, and the legit multiplayer actually works, I think you'll see a lot of people heading over to our way of things. Until things are fixed I doubt you'll see many pirates jumping ship. And frankly, who can blame them? As it stands, the pirated version of the game has a larger community and because everyones using Hamachi and Game Ranger I'm betting there are fewer connection problems.

You are wrong. I'm talking as a teenager. We don't have money to throw around. There are many people who buy games... you can see them on forums, marching together to burn all the pirates on the forum. 99% of them are people who don't live with their parents anymore (= they have their own income).

Spot on.  I pre-ordered Demigod months ago, and as some postings elsewhere on these forums will indicate, I'm not at all thrilled with the launch experience (beta was more stable by far - go figure!), but I love the game despite its flaws and I'm sure it will be fixed. Not soon enough, but thats the way it goes.

But by not buying it, we're killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.  But I agree with the previous poster that very few theives will read this thread and have a change of heart.  We can hope, though!
