Single Player - how fun is it?

So I'm not much to go online and do multiplayer.  For example I have Sins and enjoy it but have never gotten online to play.

So how does Demigod do in single player?

Is it fun?  Good/decent AI?  Replayable?

I've only played single player since the 14th.  I prefer to get a good understanding of all the DGs and items before I go online.  I've had an absolute blast playing against normal AI, but now that I absolutely own normal AI, I need to step it up to hard.

Think i'll be doing that tonight actually.  Or I might try to learn all the generals first.  I've only played assassins so far.

Single player here probably won't keep you for long. There is a basic skirmish option where you pick your map, teams, and map settings and duke it out. Then there's a Tournament mode where you pick a Demigod and fight 8 random-ish rounds with the other 7 and whoever has the most favor points (gained by in-game accomplishments like getting the most kills, most flag captures, dying the least, etc) becomes a god.

The AI is decent enough but it struggles on one game mode in particular - Domination, which requires you to hold flags to gain points to win. The AI is happy to ignore that little detail and mostly runs around the map doing whatever instead of prioritizing flags.

And that's about it. It's 8 games per tournament and it picks different maps/teams and you have 8 Demigods to choose from so there's some replay there, but MP was definitely the focus with this game.

The single player is pretty fun in my opinion but definetely may not have very long legs for most. Ive been playing it alot as someone else said to try and get a good grasp on the DG's and figure out which ones I can play good with and which ones I sucks with and dont fit my playstyle.

The other good thing about the single player is if your short on time you can just play a quick Domination map or Eliminate I think its called with a low set objective and you can get a game over with pretty quick. Sometimes you just dont have time for the Conquest mode etc.

I'd say its very fun to play single player.  I've had some epic games against the AI.  The AI seems fairly smart but I've seen the AI do some stupid things... like try to kill me when I'm standing next to a heath crystal.  Maybe thats based on the level though. *shrugs*

With the current offering, I'd say the single-player is good for one to two thirty minute matches once the novelty of playing a brand new game wears off.

The Tournament mode is utterly simplistic. Basically you get a text ordering of Ranks 1-8, display of Ascension Points and the number of matches left. You click a button called "FIGHT!" and it loads the next map. No story telling, no creativity, no eye candy, nothing. I can't even play Demigod Barbie Dress Up with my Demigods by earning new adornments and trophies. It works, but wow, utterly stale match setup and progression flavoring.

The core gameplay is fun with decent AI (it'll kill you if you're lazy or foolish) and with 8 demigods with different powers and strengths there is a lot of replayability overall. But it really depends on if you feel like playing a Demigod who's style you don't enjoy much.

So yeah, good for a quick 15-30 minute fix. It's not something that will keep you glued to the monitor for hours on end throughout the day as a singleplayer game, like an enthralling RPG or TBS/RTS would.

Cool, thanks guys.  I have some Best Buy bucks burning a hole in my wallet so I'll probably get it anyway just to support Stardock (plus no other game coming out until fall that I want).  I remember playing the old Tribes 2 and such online and had a lot of fun back in the day but find I don't really have time anymore.  But the quick 30 minute style games I could probably do.  Maybe I'll venture online again.

I only played Sins in SP, but this is a whole other game. It's quick online and full of fun action. So if you're thinking of getting online with it, you'll have lots of fun.

Not fun. Normal level AIs are too weak. And a difficult level tournament game is nearly impossible to win.

A Sins game can last days tho. ^_^

But Demigod reminds me of UT, in a way. Load up, join, have fun.

The single player mode is okay, but it will be better with some tutorials. My friends who never play Dota before got really lost in playing and just dump it. That's kinda sad.

Single player mode is fun, however the favor points and items purchased offline cannot be carried over to the online version. Since you also dont get trophies or anything else...just achievements single player has a very limited replay value. I think we need a free patch to put in a few more options on what we can do with the game as well as a few more demigods. As it stands the game feels 75% complete.
