Ran beautifully for a couple of games...

now I get fatal errors at boot of game

Basically every time I try to run the game, I get a fatal error now. game gets to the animation talking about a demigod ascending or whatever and stops, sometimes with looping sounds, other times the task manager simply needs to be opened and the game needs to be ended. the looping sounds somtimes continue until I restart.

Also, I am rarely able to join other people's games. The games I host seem to work, but not the other way around.

Crashes and sounds might be drivers... Not up to date drivers are prolly the top reason for alot of these tech. issues.

Connection thingy is a known problem... If someone can't connect to everyone the game will not start and won't time out.

Also generally if you Taskmanager, the game will go straight to "Not Responding" that always seems to happen if CTRL-ALT-DEL.

I could be wrong just my opinion...

No need to restart ctrl+alt+del then end task or process of demigod that isn't responding.  Other than that there are MANY people including me that are experiencing this.  I wish the devs would work every minute they are awake on this issue, but I am sure they are aware of this and are looking into it.  So all we can do is stil and stare are your pc monitor while it loads or whatever it is doing.  Let it play through the beginning and be patient 2-3 minutes maybe more.  And wolla it starts or stays hung-up.  Many threads about this issue already! :annoyed:

End of JKnuckle88's quote
It's not a "not responding" it's a fatal error.

I too have the same issue. I played fine for the last two days, but now whenever I start the game, I hit escape to bypass all the introduction videos and it just hangs up. If I get past that and click "Login Now" on the internet panel, again, hangs up completely.

Once I did get as far as a Custom Match and only 2 Demigods were showing, The Rook, and Sedna. I then promptly did Verify to the game, akin to what I do for Steam if I mess up a modification to the game files, etc(When installing things such as models that overwrite existing models), and got the Demigods back, got to the Custom Game Lobby again, and got 2 games loaded, then Connection Info started to dissapear on me and never come back.

Now I am sitting here fiddling my thumbs...

Any ideas what the heck can cause this?

I have not done ANYTHING to my Graphics/Sound drivers(as in there has been no updates that I would require at this point since I keep everything up to date whenever I see a patch or driver update come out).

Edit: I guess its entirely not the same since mine is a "Not Responding" issue and no fatal errors come across, just hangs up completely. But still, it ran perfectly fine for a few games, then now, this.

There's a check for available updates at the start of the game, and if the server can't be reached, it can take awhile to timeout.  The length of time to timeout doesn't seem to be something that I can change as it appears to be hardcoded in the Windows APIs we use.

We're working on (a) trying to figure out why the server becomes unresponsive and (b) trying to make it not lockup Demigod if it does

Also, it still locks up while sitting in a Custom Game Lobby, just flat out locks up and I have to CTRL+ ALT + Delete. Adds another level of frustration to the existing pile of frustrations(Not 100% chance to get everyone into your game, etc, you know the whole shabang).
