Retail version is super laggy

Hey, I got Demigod as a early b-day present and it was given to me friday.  It is a lot of fun, despite only being able to play single-player.  But ever since I recieved it, it has been super laggy.  I have used WinASO Registry Optimizer to help clean up some errors, but it seems that my computer needs to be squicky clean in order to play a whole skirmish game without lagging out...  I just downloaded the new update, and now it is always laggy...  It is quite frustrating!  Im not very computer savy, but I know my computer meets and exceeds the recommended requirements to play the game.  Can someone give me some advise on how to fix this?

I have a top of the line system and I am also seing lag 3-4 times during a 30 minute game. It will freeze for up to 60 seconds and then come back fine. I played 7 games yesterday and had no lag at all, it might just be all the activity on the server side from all the preorder downloads or users creating accounts, not sure exactly.

Idk, what is confusing is that it is the single-player skirmish games that are lagging really bad.  I'm to scared to try online if singleplayer is acting up so bad.  The lags that I'm experiencing are dehabilitating...  They reduce the match I'm in to a near stand-still.  and it takes 5 minutes just to exit out of it...  It is really ticking me off, especially since yesterday it was somewhat fine.  Today, since I downloaded that update, I can't play for 2 minutes without it almost completely freezing up.

Without hardware info it's hard to help.  See the user manual for details on how to help yourself as well as what to provide in online to get the most effective help.
