I agree with you for skirmish mode.

 

BUT you can do arrange team in custom games and custom games are ranked as well.

Clans are coming, I'd guess, since the button has been on the website for quite a while with "Coming Soon" displayed when you click it...

Personally, it will make the difference as to whether or not I buy a second copy for my son.  :)  Otherwise, he says he's content to remain playing DotA via the Warcraft3 mod.

Yup, I'd like this as well.  Just form your team up and search for opponnets (not have to even see server/game lists, etc).
