How's your server load?

To kryo or frogboy/other devs/mods,

I've got a few questions about what's going on tomorrow. Fully aware that the ball will get rolling at some point tomorrow morning, but I'm curious about a few things.

1) What's the server hardware looking like? Can it hold up?
2) Do you have a rough estimate of pre-orders that people are all going to be queuing up with to download?
3) How will the key process be working? Is someone going to be manually sending these out? Will it come via email or an impulse pop-up? Will it be done automatically? Notably, what do you estimate the average wait time at for keys?

I'll be at work during the rush, so I'm sure I have nothing to worry about. I'll just check my email from my phone from time to time. But it would still be great to get some information, as I'm sure there are plenty of other people who will be lining up at about 9am to get it as soon as they can.

Beta testers technically already have their keys I believe, so regardless they will be the first to download. Impulse should be fine since it's a downloading client; basically that's all people use it for and it's what it does.

Even if they gave you an estimate of preorders, it'd be near impossible for them to tell you how many will be downloading and at what times. As for the keys, I think they already said they'll be doing it manually through a program. Considering how a similar program from a company a mate of mine works at operates, I'd assume they would charge a preorder and once it goes through activate the serial and send it out via email.

Supposedly if you signed up with the same email, it'll activate in impulse without needing you to wait for the key and then enter it. I know I'm not a Stardock employee or anything but from the bits said that's what I have gotten.

Seems fair and about what I'd expected. I'm not looking for any sales figures here, just a rough estimate on how swamped they think they're going to be tomorrow. Just a curiosity thing, as I'm sure I'll miss the primary load.

Only a 2gig download, so anyone with a decent connection shouldn't take too long.  Start it up and come to the forums to slaver with the rest of us...

When Sins (or maybe it was GalCiv II:Twilight of the Arnor) released, I got 1MB/sec so I hopefully they've got the bandwidth angle covered for Demigod too :)

Yep, we use a worldwide network of high-speed distribution servers, rather than some local centralized server, so everyone should get very good speeds. We've been doing it that way since Sins was released and I don't think I've ever heard any widespread complaints about speed--usually people are astonished at how fast it goes for a release day.
