Can't figure out how to use impulse

Sorry, I'm new to soase online, but I really need to learn to play well so that if I ever get fast enough internet, I can live up to my name (UrWorstFear---my first choice, Data1701, was invalid). Problem is, everyone uses the latest update, 1.16. I cannot, for some reason, figure out how the heck to use impulse to get an update. I can start up impulse and go to the website, but can't use it to download the update. I have spent an hour today trying to get it but cannot, and now my mom is getting mad at me for not practicing piano X( (I'm a big boy mom, I can take care of myself).

Please be nice and help this noob out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Basically it works like this.

- Install Impulse and launch it.

- Log in with the same account you're using for the forums (so, your e-mail and password).

- Click the Impulse orb in the top left corner of Impulse, and select "Register a product.."

- Put in your Sins serial # (and select Sins from the dropdown list if it still asks you to do that).

- When that's done, Sins will show up in the "My Games" tab.

- It should also have a yellow (!) icon over it to indicate that an update is available.

- Click the icon, and then in the lower right there will be an "Update" button. Clicky to patch the game.

- When no update is available, you won't have the (!) icon and that button in the lower right will launch the game.

I think I got everything. :P Hope it helps!

Strongly suggest you use an email address that will be "permanent" so you don't have issues if you change ISP etc...

Okay, um, I have another problem. In order to download the update (actually the whole game with the update, but whatever) I have to use my school's internet (mine is stupid HughesNet with a 200mb limit). Impulse, for some unknown reason, is not working here, even though I got it to work at home. It comes up with a window telling me to login or create a new impulse account, but when I log in, it says I cannot connect to the server, even though I am connected and in internet explorer. I am running it straight off of the flash drive I installed it to (which worked yesterday) and I have even tried running it through the impulse application in the sins of a solar empire program files, which I also put on there. Any suggestions?

You have been able to register the game at home, though? If you did that, see if you can go to http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com and log in with your account. It should let you download Sins as an .impulse file off the site directly, then you can install off it - it will need Impulse, but won't require an active connection.

Okay, I have another problem:'(   I downloaded and installed Sins of a Solar Empire with the 1.16 update onto my flash drive (my computer isn't connected to the internet, my dad's is) then took it to my computer and copied it onto my computer. I tried to run it, and it tells me to register it first. So I try running it off my flash drive, where I installed it to, and I get the same thing. I think it is probably caused by the lack of an internet connection. Is there any way to get around this?

You need to use Impulse Anywhere (link above) to download the fully patched 1.16 as an .impulse archive to your flash drive. Then use Impulse installed on your offline PC to install from that archive. Impulse Anywhere is designed for installation to offline PCs ;)
