Can't update game

Installed the game. In Launcher pressed update. Logged on. Being directed to the download button. When pressed it sais "The file you are looking for is not available" (1.05).

Launching the impulse_setup.exe I get the following message: This product needs at least Internet Explorer 7.0. Setup cannot continue.

I have the latest version of IE7.0 and Netframe2.0 installed. It's driving me crazy for I cannot update any of my stardock/impulse games.

Anyone please help!

Can anyone help?

Please try the following:

-For VISTA Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.
For XP Users: Click Start and then Run, Type 'cmd' and hit enter.
-VISTA ONLY: If UAC is enabled, click 'Continue'
-Type: sfc /scannow
-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
-When the scan has completed, it should give you some feedback as to the result

Also, try running Windows Update to make sure you are fully up to date.

The only thing that worked for me after all, was installing an older version of impulse with the install-programm that came with my gc2 cd. I was very lucky to have it. Otherwise I would have jumped out the window by now.

This porves that there IS some compatibility problem with the newer install versions of impulse.

Better check on that. :)

I am in the same boat! I wanted to fire up the game after several months of not playing it. Figured I'd update, and ended up giving up after several hours of hair pulling. Requires IE? For christs sake its 2008, not the dark ages of early 2000!  Can't download 1.05, cant make this impulse thing install, can't update my game. Instead of a few hours of fun I got a few hours of frustration updating everything and still didn't get the objective accomplished =\

Please address this, I'd like to play online again =\

Where are you getting this installer from?  Try the following one:

Also, do you have any other Windows Updates that need to be done?  It may be you are running an older version of IE (unlikely, but worth a try)

What browser is your default browser?  If it is not IE can you try setting IE as your default browser then trying to install Impulse again?  Please let us know if this works.

Thanks!

The full install of impulse didn't work either, same error message. One I was using was ~6 mb, that one was ~26 mb.

Use firefox almost always. IE is installed, but the about box says its an IE8 beta. gonna try getting back to specificly 7. Will post again if that works. Guess its more happy fun for QA?

Repair install, update to sp3, install ie7. impulse works, got updated, got entrenchment.

Still more effort than it should have been. why does it care what web browser I have anyway? the ordering pages don't look like something an older browser would choke on.

Internet Explorer has deeper links to the OS that other browsers. Hence has functionaltiy that is non-standard W3C and allows for tighter integration with windows..
