Will this game have a decent single player?

Forgive my noob question, but I've only just started investigating the game and wondered if there will be a worthwhile single player componant to it.  It looks like a straight up multiplayer, but I know that Stardock are big fans of single player, so I hope the game will have something nice for us loners. :)

Well the single player will consist of exactly the same game as you would play in multiplayer, only against AI players with a few cutscenes. The single player will pretty much be a training for you to begin participating against others online.

thats disappointing. i could have sworn i read somewhere that the SP game would have stuff like a persistent levelling hero and items and such. im also really disappointed we havent had the opportunity to test the SP game, considering i dont expect to play online much (or ever)...

question in what game was stardock big on single player. Oh and yeah what evanescent said singleplayers i basicly a tournament called pantheon with maybe some cutscene and revealing info on te demigod u are olaying as but i dont think much. In singleplayer u do not get persistent levels but u do get persistant favor points.

Unfortunately, the betas don't have any single player implemented. We're not really sure how exactly everything will be impemented.

That's like saying Sins of a Solar Empire is just training for multiplayer.

Demigod has a pretty good single player component. You have both a single player skirmish as well as a single player tournament.

Imagine World of Warcraft's Arena/Battlegrounds being you alone with all the other players AI controlled... might be fun for a few games but would get boring very fast. It could provide good training for the main focus which would be doing Arena battles with and against other human players, but that is all. Much like Demigod.

Even the online Pantheon games are fun, only the Ai is normal and not hard. So it is too easy.

So for me the offline part will be ok. And if the AI get's even better it would be nice.

(only seen twice a human player in pantheon games)

you never know, if they add a decend story that developps trough the battles, it can potentially be interesting.
But anyway, their precedent rts (SupCom) had a decend single player campaign, but it was not, by far, the core of the game. I imagine it will be the same for demigod and i don't see it as a problem.

Galactic Civilizations 2 was designed as a single player game only and Stardock seems fairly passionate about a good single player experience as seen in this thread:  https://forums.galciv2.com/98074

As long as Demigod has decent AI I don't think a campaign is necessary.  I just don't have the time nor inclination to play online, so I hope for a decent challenge for single player without AI cheating.

i have both galcivs and sins, as well as supreme commander (and the older TA games) and ive never played a one of them online. why? because i only play games online with people i know, and most of my friends arent gamers (and the few that are only play one game: WoW)...

online play with random strangers sucks. if i wanted to put up with a bunch of little punks in my spare time, id have had kids of my own.

Well as someone who played WoW largely solo against bots, I don't think Evan's example is necessarily a good one.

Calling computer controlled units "bots" would be like saying Galactic Civilizations is just playing against bots (which is technically true).

I know I find the single player tournament enjoyable.

For me, single player is important because multiplayer is usually against anonymous strangers. Demigod will do a lot to rectify the things about multiplayer gaming that I don't like but still, you have to have a decent single player experience IMO.
