Uninstalling Fences

Hey, folks.

I recently installed Fences, purely out of curiosity. I'm not usually much one for neatness, and really the messiness of my desktop icons had never really concerned me. Yet, Fences was there in the My Desktop section....beckoning....calling! So I downloaded it just to check it out.

Well, I would really like to uninstall it now. I'm just finding it sort of annoying. Yet, for some reason I can't. I tried going to the the Control Panel of my computer and uninstalling Fences from there, but that didn't work; I just got my cursor changed into an hourglass picture....forever. I left for three hours, and it still hadn't loaded the uninstall wizard.

So, I tried to just manually delete the Fences Folder on my C: drive. When I did so, I got the message: "You need permission to preform this action." WtF? Permission from whom? I'm the administrator. I own the computer. I'm logged on with full administrative rights and whatnot. Am I supposed to consult Jehovah on whether this is a good idea or something?

In short: how do I uninstall Fences?

In the fences folder in the start menu there is an "uninstall fences" option.  Does that uninstall work for you?

If not, then you may want to try reinstalling it to restore a corrupted install so that the uninstaller is functional.

You mean the "uninstHelper" application? That just brings me right back here. Literally. It takes me to the forum.

ADDENDUM: Okay, I got it. I went to the "My Desktop" tab within Impulse, clicked on Fences, and found a button labeled "Uninstall Fences." That worked. Thank you for trying to help, KarmaGirl.

Hi, I got tip for Vista 64 bit users wanting to uninstall.

I had to start Impulse with RMB->Run as Administrator before uninstall actually did anything exept popped up window.

And yes this User Account type I'm using is Administrator.

my wife installed fences last night and would like me to remove it from her laptop. It's winxp and fences exists in the start menu as an item. there is no fences or stardock folder. The application opens a window with 3 or 4 buttons down the left side, no menu. Is it safe for me to run the windows add/remove on this? or is there a better route? boyd at seanet dot com
