Downloading Impulse Update.. retrying message

Stuck at 89%

Hello.

After recently noticing that both Sins and Sins:Entrenchment have updates I found I cannot download them.    The message I receive is that Impulse is downloading an update and until that is complete I cannot update my games.    The problem is that Impulse is stuck at 89% of the update download and then is stuck retrying to finish the download.    Until it is done no updates for me.

Anyone have an idea what is going on with this?   I have rebooted etc etc and nothing has worked so far.

Thanks in advance for the help.

There may be security apps (antivirus/antispyware/firewall) on your machine interfering with the download. SpyBot and Ad-Aware are common offendres. Try adding exclusions for Impulse.exe to any security software that you may have. If this does not help, you may need to temporarily disable this type of software to get Impulse to work. Be sure to turn it back on afterwards.

If all of this fails, try uninstalling Impulse, rebooting your PC, and then install Impulse from the full installer here: http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

Thanks for the replies.

As it turns out uninstalling Impulse and then reinstalling a new version of it worked.    I updated a couple of other threads with this information but forgot this one sadly.    Give that a try FatKid12 it did work for me and hopefully will work for you.

Had it been a while since you had updated Impulse (read:moths)?

Whoa, sorry for the lack of a reply over such a long period.

I had kept Impulse updated fairly frequently.     Its rather ironic that I reviewed my old posts and found this one though.    Just this very morning the same issue reared its head.    After uninstalling and then reinstalling the newest version everything was fine.     It is irritating that this happens with some frequency but at least I can work around it.      Apologies again for the slow reply.

I'm having the same or similar problem downloading updates for Impulse itself. When I tried repairing the Impulse installation, the installer attempted to install to a non-existent drive, H:, instead of the correct drive, F:. How can I change the name of the drive that the installer is trying to install to from the designation of H: to F:?

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but didn't get through the uninstall process, because of the issue mentioned in my previous post.

If Impulse was installed to a drive that now no longer exists you will need to remove the application install information from the Windows installer registry before attempting to reinstall Impulse.  The following tool should assist with this:
