Mini-dumps on medium and high graphics settings BETA 3

OK I am back again.  Some good news and more bad news.  Uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. We were hopeful that that the sync error had been fixed and real excited that the patch was out on a friday.  And lemme tell you all, when I saw that the beta 3 was out me and Mvon were so hyped up we dropped everything, changed plans, hunkered down by our computers and awaited for the bressed sounds of brissful conquering.

High hopes, but deserved, after all, this is the best game going atm and has been for a while concept wise.

The good news: we played a map with 3 stars 72 planets I believe, 2 human and 4 ai , 2 of which were on hard difficulty/2 on normal.  We had a blast and won the game and it was challenging.  Game took 4 hours 51 minutes.  Best of all we could actually move away from eachother to strike out alone or we could move our forces together and NOT ONE SYNC ERROR!  Kudos on a Great Job Devs!  We were both saying outloud for an hour  .... YES YES  THEY GOT IT!!!!  It was late at night but we we both agreed to play another or at least start one since now we felt we could save and start the game the next day.  We chose something insane that we would never have been able to try before....map with 101 planets and worm holes connecting everything... played bout an hour then saved an went to bed.

The bad news: We started several games yesterday in a row and mini dumps were non stop.  Grrr lol that darn first game the day before that gave us 5 hours of uninterupted galactic conquest fooled me :) soooooooooo.....  we tried some more games with our graphics settings down to medium.  DId not matter, between 6 mins and 1-1/2 hours minidump.  We tried just for fun to play against 1 unfair fortifier on a map with 19 planets and that was alot of fun. Real tough opponent too, just as we thought we turned the tide at 2 of his remaining 5 planets.... Mini dump.   He knew we were coming to squash him :)

Silly question, but where are the files located for minidumps if we need to send them in for beta feedback?

dump files are located at:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\Sins Dump

that's vista, not sure on xp, but it should be similar. otherwise, use the windows search function, pretty convenient stuff.

send the dumps to support@ironcladgames.com

have you tried to reproduce a specific minidump? like load an autosave and see if it still dumps at roughly the same total game time? there have been a few cases where ai use of faulty things have caused dumps, even have experienced it myself.

I am getting a mini dump between 1:30 and 1:45 which is usually the time I am attacking someone so that might be a reason.

There are two known minidump issues, involving the advent homing mines and Vasari ability 'subversion'.  So don't play with Vasari or Advent AI for the moment.

I've seen a couple mentions about the advent homing mines - they work perfectly fine for me.  What is it that you're referring to so I can keep an eye out for it?

End of Star's quote
Subversion, on the ANtorak Maurader IIRC

Ahh - so it's the interaction between the two.  Got it.
