[BUG] Crash with Nvidia SLI

After 5 minutes of play the screen freezes and fills with a single color (a random one of the map) and the game totally stops responding. This happens also with latest WHQL Drivers from NVidia (182.6) and with old ones (180.42).

The SLI setup is a 8800GT SLI on an 780i motherboard, running Vista Ultimate 64bit. Nothing overclocked. The funny part is that even with SLI disabled (NVidia profiles for this game) the same freeze happens, removing the 2nd video card it fixes the bug.

The SLI always worked and i tried it again with all the games (to be sure wasnt the video card the problem) and with GRID, Crysis, FEAR2, WoW, GuildWars, Lineage2, Sacred2, Fallout3, MassEffect (and few more tested) didnt had any problems (tried around 30 minutes each title).

We're going to be trying with some additional SLI setups. For reference, though I can't promise we can match it exactly, what vendor's cards and what motherboard are you using?

Having the same issue, but without SLI -- just a plain 260 GTX: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/340816

(that report mentions an 7200, but I removed that to isolate and the issue still occurs)

Manufacturer etc. in that report.

I had one hardlock with my GTX295. Will test it more and report back ;)

I have been playing for over 40 minutes with no hardlock so far with SLI enabled. Specs bellow:

Intel Core2Duo E6600 @ 3.51Ghz
2GB DDR2
GeForce GTX295 with ForceWare 182.06
EVGA N680i SLI

What OS are you guys using? Wondering if this is a Vista or x64 related issue.

Copied my config info from the other thread:

  • Core i7 920
  • MSI x58 Platinum
  • Vista x64 SP1
  • XFX Geforce GTX 260 (1st monitor (running game), 2nd monitor)
  • Geforce 7200 GS (3rd monitor)
  • Not SLI
Also tried with just the 260, only one monitor (physically removed the 7200 GS). No dice.

I just updated all drivers to the latest version (LAN, Sound, etc.) to see if that would have an effect. Nope. Also tried with sound disabled, still no joy.

Tracked down the issue, for me, at least. I had 16x AA on. Flipped it off and its running like a charm. Anyone else having issues have AA on?

Have any of you tried disabling Anisotropic Filtering? We would like to know what work around may have stopped the crashing.

Are any of you using Nvidia's Nhancer program and creating thier own profile? If you are please PM me or post what settings you are using.

I'm still getting random crashes with AA off, much much less frequently though. ?ooks like that must not be the only issue here. I turned all graphics settings to low and haven't gotten a crash since (several hours now).

We've gotten a pair of 8800's and reproduced this in SLI. Trying to figure out what's wrong, happening across a variety of drivers.

At least with our config, running in single-card mode has seemed to be ok. Anything with 4x AA and higher in SLI-mode showed the issue with this combo.
