Advent BattleBall

So I can kinda guess what an Advent Battleball is, its a bunch of advent ships and caps being protected by guardians with repellusion.  That would be my guess, judging by the name.  The repellusion keeps all the enemy ships at bay so you can just fire on them.  Although I think I know what it is, I have some problem doing it.  It never works smoothly for me.  My fleet usualy ends up breaking up and being too far spread out for the guardians to sucessfully repel all enemies.  So what is the trick, how do you do the Advent Battleball?  When doing the battleball how do your break up your fleet, do you put all your units into a single fleet with tight formation to keep them together?  Do your carriers sit in the center of the battleball or do you keep them on the edge of the gravwell?  Please give me a hand here, how do you do a sucessful battleball.  When I play advent I usually win, but not by battleballin'

well i don't know what other think about when they say advent battleball :P but i can tell you stuffs ^^

First of all put all your fleet into stand position, that way your fleet won't run chasing ships, repultion is not to be used if you have a fleet based on destra crusaders, simply because destra can't shoot far enough to be of some use, i would say it is better to have 1/3 only of guardian in repultion, a good spam of illum with range upgrade, many carriers, a halcyon, and 2 motherships so they regenerate the guardian shields.

this formation is useless against comp if you have a bigger fleet cuz he'll simply run away ^^, i usualy use it in defence only with a little fleet while my real fleet goes rape worlds

I know that the advent usually have the stringest fleet by late game statistics-wise, but whenever i play them their ships seem so weak (with the exception of carriers). Guardians are annoying to fight against, especially when they just keep pushing your ships away. This battle-ball formation is intruiging, and it seems like a more technical strategy than the normal illum or carrier spam

Well any end game fleet can kill anotehr end game fleet.  If you are tlaking about full advent with all ship types packed tight it is impressive, but imagine that vs a full armor TEC fleet with tons of kodiaks and lrms with AOE (LRMS can outrange repel) and a nice Marza Duo to ruin your day.  Same thing for Vasari fleet that with 1 carrier + repair ability on Enforcers have almsot unkillable Heavy Cruisers.  And of course AOE disable from subverters, one of those gets past repel and its game over for you.

An Advent battle ball would destroy this TEC fleet you speak of.  My illums + strike craft would eat up the LRMS first, and nothing else would be able to get close enough to kill my fleet thanks to repel.  The Marza duo wouldn't be doing a whole bunch because they could not get close enough to use missle barrage effectivly.  Any damage my fleet takes the motherships will heal.

Like we said in a previous post, the best strategy is about counters, the best way to counter a battleball is strike crafts, simply because battleball is a DEFENSIVE formation, so if you stay in a local area position to protect carriers with hc and focus on destroying guardians, the dude can't do much exept making drone hosts, an other way is to make the dude come for you, thats simple, make your fleet so weak int he well that the dude would rush it and then jump the rest of fleet in, once battleball is spread its useless of course that depends if the other falls for it. Think big use your imagination, a battleball isnt perfect

In Communist russia, Advent battleballs you!

Also, i culd write ellaborate explenation of the finetuned advent synergies and theye proper application in battleball, but i cant be arsed.

Also, i inventted the thing, like 1 year ago :/

And its nerffed to hell... and Back.

Advent is now, ironically, most voulenrable race to fighters. Advent antifighter abilities are overshadovet by flak burst by miles, even the kortull is beter than telecinetik bichslap.

And battleball, must, by nature, rely on carriers, since any player with any brain will not waste units on  your shield ball forsters, and moving that thing is painfull.

Aaaaand thats the reaason i dont play advent. With tec, you can kite your carriers with hoshikos and keep them alive much beter than keeping them inside battleball.

That is because, to battleball become immune from all thing, it needs 8 capitals ships, and dominas. Any opponent who will leave you long enought alone to get that is idiot. TEC needs only 3 capitals ships to be LRM/Fighter immune.

:D

Vasari can almost do it with 3 caps.  Only problem is that most people choose the egg as their first cap, so you really need 4 caps.  Your egg on planet raids, and 1 kortul and 2 carriers in your other fleet.  Mix some flak, assails, and HCs, and you're good to go.  Too bad vasari can't match the missle barrage, but sometimes you can mimic it with the kortul if your enemy sucks enough.
