Galciv2 patch too small, help!

Hi, I'm trying to update Galciv2 from 1.0 to 1.53.136. Impulse claims it's downloaded 100% of the patch and then gives me this message

"Experiencing network difficulties (100.0%) - File downloaded is smaller than reported by server"

I've tried changing the BITS thingy in preferences, and my firewall (Sunbelt) and my virus checker (AVG) don't seem to be blocking it. Also is there anywere else I can legitimatley get the patch without going through Impulse, it's awfull. Thanks.

After seeing the sheer volume of problems on the forums concerning Impulse I've decided to uninstall it and return the game. Steam does this sort of thing so well in comparison. I guess this shows what happens when it's done badly.

Most times, simply disabling AVG won't do it

Some anti-virus applications (and AVG is one) can have their own 'spybot' functions, and Firewall settings. these can continue to run in memory even if you hae 'disabled' AVG.

It's better to go into the AVG preferences or configuration and look for these 'extra' security items and turn them off there.

Well Mr. Flopster, as pointed out by the handy Stardock Support It most likely isn't impulse thats the problem. But i must say, I am quite glad you and your half empty attitude are leaving because NEW platforms need Optimism to help them to flourish. I hope when you come crawling back in a year or two you dont help the pessimistic crew crush Impulse like you will have crushed steam.
