dumped 3 times on a game between myself and 3 friends last night (on the new beta). Not to mention wicked de-sink problems. About 2hrs in after we had fought tooth and nail to gain the upper hand on the 3 hard and 1 extreme computers and was about to move to the "fleet stomping stage" then toast...
try reducing your settings i know it was mentioned for the last patch but just try it see if is that report it
I have dropped everything to low, and still have major mini dumps with this build.
Using Quad Core Intel CPU with Nvidia Quadro 4600. Took out the second card so no SLI mode just to make sure that wasn't an issue.
I have not totally uninstalled and reloaded due to problems uninstalling. I read in another post there is a way to reload by deleting the original. I'll report back if a total reload works.
Off topic, but Quadro 4600?
Are you playing this at work or something? I thought those cards where super-expensive.
Currenlty I am at highest detail, Voodoo Blackbird, quad core intel 3,2 overclocked to 4.0Ghz 8MB memory, sli mode enabled 2xgtx280 with physX enabled. no issues.....
I've had some issues With creatinmg control groups. I even Reset to defualts (not that I had changed the control scheme. But hey, who knows...) and still no joy. Plus, Clicking on the fleet bar on the left of the planet wouldnt selectanything for me. Very aggrevating, so I just quit plaing until they fix it.
Other then that, it worked fine. But I guess I didnt really play long enough to know for sure.
I was also getting dumps every 5 minutes until the latest version. The game still has momentary pauses, but does not dump. Maybe the next version will also remove these pauses allowing for uninterrupted play.
Yes it is a Quadro 4600 and yes they were very expensive.
I am a graphic artist, hey, we like to play too. I switched over to this workstation becuase it runs vista 64 bit. My game machine runs XP with a pair of 7800GTS in SLI. I was testing to see if crashes on huge maps were memory related. On a related note. I am having far less crashes since I dropped the settings down to low. My video cards have 768MB of RAM each. That might be why I was only getting mini-dumps after hours of game play. I usually play @ 2560X1600. I sent a couple of save games and mini dums in to support. I removed the second card since SLI might have been causing a problem.
Totally off topic but does anyone have any clues on how to get all the artifacts at one time? It is one of the few achievements I have not been able to get done. Biggest map I have played to completion had 58 plantes. Do I need to play a bigger map? I got space ponies, but don't ask me how or why it happened. I just left a game running all weekend last month and at the end of the game I had the space ponies achievement completed.
ok correction, after about 3 hours, mini-dumps started in a multi-player game, reducing settings did not help either.
at first, i couldnt run Sins at all, then i reinstalled the update, and i could get to the main screen, but when i tried to continue with my saved game, it mini-dumps without fail...
becoming rather irritating... i have all the settings on lowest quality (even though my comp can handle it on highest) which seemed to work with the last build (had graphics on high instead of highest) still no cigar...
i know its a beta, but these crashes are becoming agittating... personally, i love amazing graphics as much as the next gamer... but i dont usually zoom in on one ship when im having large fleet battles, seeing as i need to (like to) co-ordinate my battles.
i would be happy if they scale back the graphics and just get the damn thing to work
then again, if its not the graphics causing the problem... then dont worry im already eating humble pie
