Bug report in release 2.02 campaign

Dread lords apocalyps

Hi,

I recently have the GalCiv2: ultimate edition. I updated the game to the latest patch(2.02) on Friday on my laptop which has internet access and then copied the files and used them on my desktop without uninstalling the original setup .(Now I have two Galciv2 on my desktop. Both the 1.97 and 2.02)

I was playing the campaign and noticed some bugs that I thought to report.

1- On Apocalypse level, I defeated the Dread Lords on Normal difficulty by conquering all their planets. When I conquered the last planet, all their ships and bases disappeared and then nothing happened. I continued for a few turns but nothing. The game just continued as if nothing happened. I was not declared victorious and no cut scene, nothing. I then conquered the none-team civ (I think Korx) and nothing happened either. The mission description says defeat the dread lords and that' what I did. Am I missing something?

2- I am not sure if this is a bug but the description said the Dread lords will not try to colonize new worlds but they were using transport ships to conquer colonized ones. They conquered a total of 4 worlds. Maybe they are supposed to capture but not colonize so I'm not sure if this is a bug or not.

3- Probably not a bug but the level was impossibly difficult and if it wasn't for the fact that the Dread lords were not actively trying to annihilate all other civs, there was no chance to beat them. Even as I conquered their last planet, they had probably 10 times my military power

4- This is a bug I think. I started the Dark Avatar campaign and the dark avatar's initial video plays for every mission instead of just play for the first one. So as I went to the second and third missions, I was presented with the video.

The real disappointment was the apocalypse level. When I finally captured their last planet, I was hoping for a treat.

Oh well, just thought to let you guys know about these issues.

Correct-not a bug.  Colonizing and invading are nowhere near the same thing.

Also not a bug.  They're supposed to be insanely difficult.  :)

Can't help you on the others, as I haven't played the campaign in ages-the video issue sounds like someone forgot to set it specific to the DL campaign (hint hint SD), while the non-completion issue has a thread or two on it...hopefully someone will stop by and tell you how they got it to work.

I agree that level is crazy hard, your AI friends help you not 1 single bit, I finally colonized almost every planet myself, and started spitting out cheap little 1 attack star fury's by the hoards (at 1 maint each). Then it was just a matter of time, At one point, I had about 500 or more of the little buggers around the Dread Lords 4 planets. The Dread Lords were having a field day destroying them, but at least it kept all their transports from roaming freely and conquering other planets. Also, after a Dread Lord ship destroys 1 or 2 ships, their movement ends... they won't use their speed of 9 to destroy 9 of your ships in a single turn. Then once I had my transports in place, I used all the poor suckers in those Star Fury's to wipe out the few defenders on the planets. I must have lost almost the whole fleet though, it seemed the Star Fury's only got a hit 50% of the time.

This was reported before and has happened to me as well.  You can either hope a patch fixes this soon, or play the campaign again from the Dread Lords chapter.  You can use cheat mode to cheat yourself through the missions up to Apocalypse, and then play as normal.  You won't have access to Dark Avatar or Twilight of the Arnor features, but that's what the campaign was originally designed for.
