I can't seem to get GC2:TA running (and it's the only GC I wanna play at this point )

I figure it's not SD's fault I'm beta testing a new OS, and I'm going back to playing Xcom for a while...

It works perfectly for me in Windows 7 x64, so I don't know why it won't run for you. Not tried DA or DL though, I only play TA these days.

As for losing partitions, on my computer I experienced that Win 7 didn't assign a drive letter to my XP harddrive after starting up (separate drive though, not just partition), but that was easily sorted with the disk manager in the administrative tools. Multi-booting worked perfectly too; I have no problems booting XP.

I've not tried a whole lot of software yet, but so far everything I've tried that I had in XP works in Win 7, although with some odd quirks sometimes (like Impulse reporting the missing Flash.ocx or something like that)

Not Working in x64.... HP Solution Center.  Will not run as administrator or under Vista compatiblity settings.

Also CursorFX Plus installed OK but would not activate in Impulse and onboard 'activation' keeps giving an error message and closing

As for me, the Vista partition seemed lost after installing W7... but not until I found out that it's still there in the Disk Management, though, without an assigned letter.

Seems like a way to prevent W7 mess with the other data.

Cliff - admin at another site - reports losing Vista

partition when he installed 7 - anyone else lose Vista ?
End of AzDude's quote

if he truely lost Vista it would probably be because he made a mistake and did not specify the partition for Win 7 and formated the entire drive. or possibly did not specify the CORRECT partition an installed it on the Vista partition over Vista thus losing it. This could be easy to do especially if the Vista partition was the entire drive. he would have to use a partition software to create a second partition for 7. When I installed 7 the entire drive was one partition (was my storage drive), if it was there I did not see options to create an additional partition/resize existing, the only option available to me was to install on that partition or delete the it and then I could create new partitions. This may be what happen and he did not notice which would have resulted in him installing 7 over Vista or deleting Vista's partition. if so, Yes he lost the Vista install.

it may though just be in the BCD file (Vista's/7 boot file). Vista and 7 not longer use the boot.ini file but rather a Boot Configuration Data file. If he did indeed install 7 on it's own second partion, 7 may have overwritten the Vista BCD thus removing Vista boot info.

if this is the case vista is still installed but he simply has no boot info/option for it due to Vista's boot info being overwritten. He may be able to edit the BCD file to add Vista boot option back in. search google for editing the BCD. it's rather simple with XP boot.ini but I have not had to edit the BCD so I don't know what is required.
