Vista x64 support
Where is it?
I just bought object dock plus, however I cannot add a system tray or windows startbar on my copy of vista x64 with it.
Not too happy about this!
When will this be fixed?

We have to wait for OD+ 2.0 for proper x64 support and while not explicitely stated, it'll be ready when it's ready.
For now, you can download Stardock Central and install/login;
(Top Tab) Tools > Settings > Make sure 'Show pre-release versions' is ticked;
Uninstall your current version of OD+ otherwise it will conflict with the beta;
(Side Bar) Misc > ObjectDock Plus and install 1.90i[b].020;
Restart.
That should be it, you'll be allowed to use the start menu and system tray in Vista x64. Just be sure to keep a shortcut handy for Objectdock.exe as it's unstable while you're configuring it. In most other cases, it's been working nicely for me.
Probably never. There are some bugs in ObjectDock that are YEARS old and haven't been fixed.
If OD isn't doing what you want right now, I'd get my money back and wait for the updates. If you need to, use the free version in the meantime.
Open Impulse, click on the blue orb in the upper left corner (after validation is complete), select "allow Beta versions", and you should see an OD+1.9 beta from OCT 08, which works very good with Vista x64. No issues at all, yet.
Do you need to uninstall Objectdock Plus first in order to see the beta versions? On one of my machines running Vista64 Ultimate I don't seem to have any issues but on the other one, and just in the past two days, I keep getting an error messge that the feed isn't available. I have to unload OD and then reload it for it to show up, until it updates itself again and then I get the no feed available message again... rather annoying. Not sure why it works on one machine and not the other either. Thanks.
man simple simon...your not to enthusiastic
object dock is an awesome program and im sure those of you that recently purchased will be upgraded for free...dont be such a pessimist![]()
Where exactly in Impulse does it show the beta versions? How bout a screen shot?
My weather docklet has stopped working.
I deleted OD+, rebooted, then set Impulse (w/a click on the upper left orb) to show the betas. It updated to 1.91k[a].025 without a hassle. I hope this helps.
OK. I see your problem. I have a fresh install of Vista x64 SP1 Ultimate upstairs. I installed OD+ with Impulse, and it installed 1.09.033 as the latest beta from Impulse. NOTHING really worked in x64 just like everyone has stated. I tried to tell Impulse to allow betas/alphas, and rebooted, but nothing but v 1.90.033 would show up in Impulse. I rebooted, refreshed Impulse, everything I thought possible, to no avail. SD/Impulse are screwing us by not allowing the TRUE latest betas to update via Impulse, which allow x64 features.
So I installed SDC 2.54, told it to show beta versions, and installed OD+ 1.90i[b].020, without uninstalling the previous Inpulse install. I rebooted, and SDC says I have the latest beta v 1.90i[b].020, but if I open impulse, it says that I have the latest beta v 1.90.033. WEIRD.
But now, all the x64 features work.My downstairs computer has OD+ v 1.91k[a].025, but I forgot how I got that one installed. I think I uninstalled OD with Impulse, rebooted, installed 1.90i in SDC, rebooted, then uninstalled SDC, and told Impulse to update, and it showed the 1.91k version.
So basically, if you use Impulse without SDC, SD screws you and does not allow the latest betas 1.90i nor 1.91k to update on Impulse. And thus, x64 features DO NOT WORK. It appears from trying this on four different machines, all Vista x64 Ultimate, that you must use StarDockCentral (SDC) 2.33 (download) which auto updates to v 2.54, to be able to download a beta version of OD+ v 1.9x, which will work on x64.
You'd think SD would have things somewaht straightened out with Impulse. It appears they still have tehir head in their @$$ when it comes to helping their hardcore customers, who buy their sw and then try to help others on the forums. Maybe 2009 will see the update to OD+ v 2, or maybe not. At the going update speed, we may be using Win 7 SP1 by the time an update shows up for OD+.
If I open up OD+ itself, and check the ABOUT OD properties on the "splash" screen that pops up, It goes from 1.90Build535u (v1.90.033 in Impulse) to 1.90Build537u (v1.90i[b].020 in SCD and the same v1.90.033 in Impulse). I didn't check the other computer with 1.91k on it, It's shut down, It's late and I'm going to sleep. I hope this helps.
I purchased back in September(?)... The bugs have been around for years! If I wasn't using Vista 64bit, I could probably just accept the current state of OD.
What really burns my butt, is that they DID have a version online that worked fine. No problems at all. Then, suddenly, a LOT of users lost their tray icons - even without doing ANY update to the OD software. At that point Stardock took the working version down.
I don't know what kind of update that Stardock pushed to their users in the background, but I just want the version I downloaded when I got my subscription.
