AI race's political parties.

I don't have TA yet ( I'll get it for Christmas  ) But what I want to know before I get it is: Do the AI races have different political parties besides being Ferderalists? Everytime I meet another race, they are Federalists. In Ta do they choose political parties that reflect their own race? ex: Drengin and Arcean- War Party, Korx- Merchantile, Altarians- Pacifists.

As I said before I don't have TA yet, but I love the GalCiv II series and I want to know as much as I can before I get it. v_v

AFAIC, the only way to activate one PolParty by choice is to mod it in via a rewritten RaceConfig.xml file by listing a specific party ID for any given Race.

There was also an instance when *some* parties got distributed in certain gameplay situations (sandbox mode) by a hardcoded random routine (which, sadly, we don't have control over even by Modding the pattern).

I believe this is either caused by a configuration points ratio and the fact that a race can always change a party (again, at random or through some tricky AI encoding) or if an external file *enforces* a fixed race_party combo.

The AI does tend to favor Federalists a bit much, but I've seen them choose other parties even in DL.  You might try turning up the difficulty a notch.

Ive seen it happen in DL too, but I prefer to change it through the XML. Has anyone here actually tried making their own party? I find it very beneficial in some aspects. But I have worries since the metaverse does count some modification to cheating and flags people. It does disappoint me somewhat that the metaverse can't be more lenient when it comes to modifications and submitting scores.

Metaverse is purposely driven by stock default elements to provide equal turf to all participants, so it makes a whole bunch of sense that nobody can catch an edge simply by altering a custom polparty values and claim being better at this game than anyone else!

Although, i think the new I-Mod metaverse might give you an alternate way to play within a modded enviro including specific party data.

One thing is certain, i'd love to witness what anyone could do if they'd setup a game with my tricky *Alarmist* (currently available only in CoSH!) party given to all AI opponents in any given games! XD

Please note that i also have a number of 'cool' parties in the X-Worlds mod & plenty of others (in General Pants', for one) are in the Library too.

Have you really seen difficulgty level affect the variety of party choices among the AIs?

I've played at Tough since I got my game legs under me, which was not too many patches into DL. I long ago gave up looking for much variety in the AI party choices, but that might be in part because I never saw much correlation between a non-Federalist choice and the backstory for a given civ. Maybe things have changed since I stopped looking?

Thanks for the answers guys. It was helpful.

No problem. Always glad to help.

Swicord, It does happen but it's not terribly common i find. It's true most the AI's prefer Federalist over any other party. Although I have only been running on DL so I can only speak for the earlier versions of the game.

It's not an every day thing, to be sure, but playing with nine AIs I do find several of them in virtually every game to be running something other than Federalist-and I did so even on Tough, although I would swear they have more variety at Maso (which they may not-but it feels like it).

Federalist is certainly one of the most popular ones for the AI to choose, though.  In my games, War Party tends to be a close second, although I don't know why.

Currently playing TA 2.02, Immense map (tough setting) and all races (9) set to intelligent.

The races I've made contact with so far show the following mix:

Yor - Federalists/Imperial gov.

Arceans - Pacifists/Imperial gov.

Drengin - War Party/Rebublic gov.

Terran Alliance - Mercantile/Imperial gov.

So far, things look a little more interesting and varied compared to previous games (1.96).

I'm not sure (have to check the journals/logs) but I think the AI may have been tweaked a bit in the 2.0 and 2.02 versions.

When you start a new game in ToA at least, you can change what political party each AI Civ is. As well as their starting attributes. I think whatever it is set at, is what it stays at forever, unless you change it. Of course, if the AI civ has no starting attributes selected, I don't know if the AI assign's them or not. As far as political party goes, you can set it yourself by hitting the edit button during the new game setup.

Yep, but the RC.xml file **also** has PolParty lines for editing and most AIs would stick to that choice if their Customization Points are too low.
