Noob question

Building More ships

Hi Guys,

This is a Noob Question.  I've only been playing for a few days and I can't figure out how to increase my fleet size (numbers.)    I'm maxed out at 99 points.  Every time I try at this point it tells me I have to do more research in Logistics.  There it tells me I have to get a point in "Direct Reproduction?"  I have no idea how to be able to build more ships.  I alread have researched into second an third tiers.  I have at least two of each civ/weapons research stations on several planets.  But still I can't build more ships :-(  I have the $$$, crystal, and metal.  Thank you in advance for your help.

Easy.  Build Research structure and then research Fleet logistics.

Its under the chemistry button which is left of top dead center

In the top of the screen right in the middle there are 3 buttons, diplomacy, reshearch, and black market

to get a larger fleet you need to press the reschearch button

that will open the reshearch menu, choose logistics and you acces that menu

the top of that menu is the number of capital ships you can field

the bottom is how large your fleet is

evey time you reshearch larger fleets you must first build a resheachlab (millitary or civil)

hope that does it

fleet supply has 8 levels,  each increasing the amounts of ships  you are able to build, but also decreasing income.

fleet supply doesnt need any research  tough for every level u need 1 research center,    so if u want to research level 8 u need 8 research centers,    in any combination ,,, that is 4 civil and 4 ilitary   or 7 military and 1 civl   etc.

there's 2 tpyes of supply,  first is the normal fleet supply (the LOWER row of the   RESEARCH > Fleet supply tab)  then u hav capital ship crews  (the UPPER row of the  RESEARCH > Fleet supply tab) frigates and cruisers only need fleet supply,   capital ships need both fleet supply and capital ship crews

ofcourse you also need enough credits to research,  and dont forget that it takes about 30 seconds to research,  so ships wont build the moment u research it

Hi again :-)

I want to thank Kruppe and Shadow_of_Light for your help.

I must be having a senility moment because I STILL can't figure out how to increase my fleet capacity :-( At the point in the last game where I got my a** handed to me on a platter because I only had a cap and four other support ships, I had built 5 weapons labs and 4 Imperial labs. I think my cap ship was a level 3 last game, if that matters any. Also I had tons of credits, metal, and crystal.

I researched well into the last tier in weapons and civilization tree. EVERYTIME I tried to do something or advance in the Logistic research it kept telling me I needed at least two research labs (well DUH I had 9 labs) and a 1 point in “Directed Reproduction.” What the H*LL is that? I couldn't find it anywhere. I tried doing the “tutorials” again and that didn't help. Could someone please tell me the step by step procedure of how to increase my fleet numbers or tell me where I can get the info? At this point I can't get ANY farther because I can't build any larger fleets :-( Thanks again for you help :-)

ok you still cannot get more fleet logistics even though Krupped and Shadow_of_Light explained how to do it in exact detail and still can do it so here it is again.

1) Press the chemistry tab

2) Then press the logistics button, the third button down on the list.

3) Ther are two different rows, the top one is to increase the amount of capital ships you can have, the bottom row is to increase fleet logistics to a bigger capacity and should have research stations to research more logistics. It also in your instruction maual booklet and the tutorials should explain it if you pay attension.

Thank you for the input Darth Caedus Morgan.

The problem isn't that I can't find the Logistics Tab, or that I didn't read the manual or pay attention, it's that EVERYTIME I try to increase the amount of cap ships or increase fleet logistics it won't let me. Are you saying that having 9 research labs isn't enough to increase them?

You almost got it, when you acces the reschearch menu there is a list you just diddent notice

(for ease of explanation --> same as pressing that chemmestry/reshearch botton at the top center of the screen)

Press F2 --> that gives you the reshearch menu

the menu is as follows

1'st millitary

2'nd is civilian

3'rd is FLEET logistics <---- this is the one you want!!!

4'th Artifacts

you change menu on the left side--> acces the fleet logistics and then reshearch fleet size:))

give us a shout if you still can't find it:) (also if you do, always nice to know you helped)

For every level of a logistic reasearch, you need one research station per level, that means you need 8 of them only.

If you can't seem to find it, show pictures of what you are looking at in the reasearch menu so we can point it out easily for you.

Thank you again Kruppe for your assistance :-)

On the first row of tabs the first one is green. The rest are grayed out. Whenever I hit the next tab it says 1 point of Directed Reproduction prerequisite then voice says more research required.

On the lower tier the first “star” is green the rest of the tabs a grayed out. When I hit the next tab it says prerequisite and more research required.

I don't know if this matters but between the two rows are four big buttons:

top two Current up keep 0% (in red) next up keep 9% (also in red)

lower two buttons Current supply 100 next supply 250 both green. Nothing happened when I try hitting them.

Hmm it sounds like you are trying to *skip* the first level of fleet reshearch...

you don't start of with 1 level reshearched, you start at level *0* ---> try pressing the 1'st green botton, not the grayed out one

If that dossent work i'll have to open the game to chek out what the deal is(can never remember the name of stuff i just do it^^)

Thank you Kruppe,Irrnt, Darth Caedus Morgan, and everyone else for all of your help :-)

This is very ironic, but after I made my last post and shut down my computer for the night I thought maybe I should click the colored buttons. Sure enough after I read your last post that's what I did tonight and everything is “Hunky - Dorey.” The research is proceeding and my fleet capacity is growing :-) I feel like such an idiot though :-( I never thought to click the colored ones because they had a color. So, I kept thinking I needed to click the ones that didn't have the color or to do something else to get them to work :-(

Anyway guys, thanks again :-)

Ciao,

Dada

Now that you can build more ships, be careful not to do that research too fast. :)

You saw the "Fleet Upkeep - 0%" thing from an earlier post. When you increase your fleet capacity (so you can have more ships), that upkeep number goes up. That's a tax taken off all your income.

More ships is good. Just make sure not to try to research ship capacity up too far in the early going, since you're paying for it even if you don't actually build the ships right away.

Thanks for the tip Tridus.  I'll make sure to watch out for that.
