We were not waiting on new drivers from Nvidia, just ATI and I notice they released their December drivers so ATI users should download those.

You should be able to use Deskscapes on your Nvidia board already.

Neil...maybe you can shed some light on this so I know whether I should bother continuing to try to using Dreamscapes. I'm on XP using an Nvidia Geforce7600 GS video card 256 mg.

Dreams that don't work.
Grassy Fields
Calm Seas
Planktonic
WaterColor Dream

Dreams that Work.
Water Dream.
Bouncing Box
Desktop Earth

For most dreams I get this all the time. And when I click apply anyway some work.
"AGP card detected. Deskscapes 2.5 is not compatible with your video card at this time. Please click NO or Cancel to read the compatibility information. Try applying dream anyway?"

For others I get this and they don't work at all.
"The dream may contain an invalid video type or a compatible MPEG-2 video decoder may not be present. Please visit here for more information https://www.stardock.com/products/deskscapes/nocodec.asp"

First of all I have to say that the latest DS update greatly improved the speed and fluidity and I'm was immediately impressed by that so thanks Stardock! But,I tried out the ATI Cat 8.12 release and I didn't notice that it helped DS perform any better than it did with older drivers. Also I don't recall seeing anything specific regarding a boost for DS in the release notes unless it was part of the general improvement for a broad range (it's possible I missed it though). One problem that I still have with DS is that most if not all dreams will run ok for a while, but then just stop and the screen background will freeze or go dark. Not really any problem with severe slowdown or lag while they are running though, I can perform other tasks etc.

I'm not sure about the Watercolor dream but the others that won't run for you are MPEG2 dreams. It sound like you do not have a mpeg2 codec installed. Are you able to play DVDs on your PC or do you have a DVD player software like PowerDVD loaded? If not and you do not have access to a copy, you can download and install VirtualDub and it will install a free MPEG2 codec for you.

So will the latest drivers from ATI now allow DeskScapes to run on a system with an ATI/AMD AGP card? I'm in the driver beta program and the last time I gave Deskscape a shot, a while back, it just caused nothing but problems for me and I had to use a sysrestore point to get my computer working right again.

Got MPEG2 installed but the dreams run real choppy..And with some dreams all I get is a bunch of weird lines across my screen.

This is all I get when applying any Dream so far..  I know.. older AGP board, 6800GS  but it more then meets the specs required by the Dreams.. and when I was using Vista Ultimate it had no issues what so ever.. well, minus the massive CPU drain.. but that was more with DreamScenes then DeskScapes.  If I click Yes and apply the dream.. the only thing that happens is 100% on the CPU.. and I have to force a restart on the computer.

Specs:  CPU: XP3200+, 2GB XMS, 6800GS (178.24)

What about the Nvidia agp video card by PNY technologies GeForce 7600 8x video drivers? Where do we find those drivers for the deskscapes to function properly? I get that same message....AGP card detected do not try to apply.

Any info would be appreciated.

I think it's the simple fact that Deskscapes simply checks to see if it's running on AGP with WinXP..
