Weather Docklet Days Error

Is anyone else out there experiencing this problem? The weather docklet flyout shows Today, Tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, Sunday when today is Thursday. So... if today is Thursday, how can the day after tomorrow be Friday?!? The same goes for any other day respectively (i.e. - tomorrow will show Today, Tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday, Monday) I have seen older posts relating to this same problem with replies saying that it's an accuweather problem. In any event, I know that it's not just me as I have a family member who lives in a different state (uses different zone) and is having the same problem with their weather docklet as well. Just didn't know if anyone has info on this or whether it's something that's being worked on.

Okay so today the plot thickens. It is Friday, and the docklet is now showing the same as yesterday... Today, Tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Perhaps us weather docklet users are in some sort of strange time warp and we are not aware of it? Well, at least I know it's many of us experiencing the problem. Hopefully this will get resolved. Boy it sure seems like they have a lot of difficulties with this thing, doesn't it?

Didn't I see this happen once on The Twilight Zone?8O   How many Fridays in one week are there, anyway?;P

Exact same thing here.  Today is Friday, but the flyout shows Today, Tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.  This was before the OD update.  After update, same problem.

Edit:  And the "non-fly out" icon in the bar shows the weather from two days ago also.  It's as if this really is Wednesday.

But there's never a problem connecting to Accuweather from the icon and getting the *correct* day and weather!

argh.

From Julien in irc - 'you can fix it yourself by replacing the StardockWeather.ocx file by the one installed by MyColors in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock'. That seems to have resolved the day issue on mine.

You may need to close and restart OD+ after replacing the file.

Thanks Julien

There seems to be a problem server-side that stalled the weather updates. Weather gadgets should still work fine as they use a newer version of the API.

As Hankers wrote, a temporary workaround is to try to replace the StardockWeather.ocx in the ObjectDock folder by the one installed by MyColors or ThemeManager (if you can run weather gadgets from Stardock, it should be installed on your machine).

You can find it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Stardock (or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Stardock on Vista 64). Simply copy StardockWeather.ocx to the ObjectDock folder (and remember to make backups).

Great idea!  However ... the only stardockweather.ocx file I've got is the one in the ObjectDock folder.  I searched the entire C drive.   I don't have/use MyColors or ThemeManager.  Hey I'm a simple guy ... what can I say.

Is there some other way to get the "correct" copy/version of StarDockWeather.ocx?

Thanks.

Tom

The one from the beta version of ObjectDock found on SDC should work too. I'm afraid there is no real way to bypass that unfortunately.

I think this is fixed internally so the next update will have the fix, but nobody knows when it will be published.

Seabass - Thank you!

The replacement file on your server worked. Now the weather day is correct.

Thanks!

Glad to hear it! Be sure to hit up Kendo for the find with some hefty karma.

As it was stated before this is a temporary work around to fix the issue for now. This will not work for everyone that has the trouble. If you should have problems with this we would like to know the circumstances on your machine that might highlight to us what the trouble might be. Please know though that this isn't a patch.

Same here Seabass, all is now working on an XP Home SP3 32-bit system running Object Dock Plus.  Thank you very much.

I too had the same problem here in Derby, Ks.  The work around suggested by Seabass worked for me.  Thanks!

I had ObjectDock Free version and liked it so much I bought the Plus.  The fix worked on the Free Version but after I installed the Plus it doesn't work.  I followed the same steps to copy and replace the file but the days are all off.

TimG101, silly question but did you uninstall the free version of ObjectDock before installing the Plus version?  If not, uninstall everything related to ObjectDock (free and Plus).  Run a clean up program like CCleaner and reboot and then reinstall ObjectDock Plus and finally the fix for the days problem with the weather docklet.  Hopefully that should fix your problem.

End of TimG101's quote

What Philly said is very important because the free version had a much older docklet for weather servers. You were fortunate that it worked in your area but it did not often work for others. The uninstall and the workaround should do the trick for you in this regard. If not please let me know what location you are trying to access.

As a side note all praise (and Karma) should go to Kendo for the work around. He was the one to come up with the fix. He is the original poster of the post linked above. :)
