Two Problems

I have two problems which are confusing to say the least.My machine is a  Windows Vista Home SP 1 with all patches and updates.I have had Object Dock Plus installed about 6 months and yesterday I purchased Object Desktop Ultimate.Cutting to the chase-I can't uninstall Object Dock Plus-I click on uninstall and allow the uninstall through UAC flag and thats is far as it goes,nothing else happens-no menus,no zip.Problem two is I cannot install Impulse,after I click finish a sign comes up and says Impulse has encountered an error and must close.It does not allow me to send error report,it kind of goes around in circles-although it does show up in the uninstall menu and it can be uninstalled with the uninstaller-it just doesn't run,and won't allow sign in etc in addition to all of the above.

I have tried shutting off/uninstalling firewall and virus protection,other copies/links of Impulse/running reg cleaner and mt temp. files-all the usual.

Can someone offer some insight to these problems-esp. would like to look at that new expensive software I just purchased!LOL!Thanks in advance.

I don't use Vista but what I see most folks doing in these cases is turning of UAC, getting the task at hand done and then turning back on UAC.  You have done the other things that might be blocking you.  I would at least try uninstall with UAC turned off to see what happens.

As a side note, why are you wanting to uninstall Object Dock Plus?

The UAC may also have something to do with installing Impulse also.

Here's a silly question, you are doing all this as admin?

you need to install as Admin... that's my suggestion, but also turn off that UAC crap... I hate it, and I don't use it at all... you can download that install files, and right click on them.... then select run as admin...

Hello and thanks for your replys-I tried your suggestions and some others and still no luck.I have opened a ticket with support and I am awaiting their response

Answer to that is I was having a problem getting the weather feed,but it since has corrected itself somehow.(I was going to uninstall/reinstall to see if that would help.Object Dock still won't uninstall-but it is working now-I'm putting that problem on "backburner" until the Object Desktop Ultimate problem is resolved.Thanks again.

You shouldnt have to uninstall impulse to use the od ultimate stuff. the registrations should be able to be entered from within impulse. Click on the Question mark at the top right within Impulse and check to see if it lists your purchase of OD ultimate. it should as long as the login info you use with impulse is the same you used to purchese OD ultimate. Impulse will automatically update its self with any software you recently purchased and give you acess to them. you then should be able to install the new stuff directly from Impulse.

I can install Impulse,its just that it shuts right back down -it won't run,it closes in error.(Impulse)

Hi..Just got the verdict from support as to why Impulse would not install -I have "one of the few configurations that DEP doesn't play correctly with the Impulse program".As a work around,they had me turn DEP completely off through command line prompt and it installed and I got my downloads.http://vistasupport.mvps.org/disable_data_execution_prevention.htm

Follow link above to kill DEP if needed.
