What is this?

If I download Galaxy Forge or Forge Tools I only get a .rar . What is this? My Computer doesn't know what to do with these. Can anybody help me and explain what to do?

Oh! I forgot to say: I've got the old Galaxy Forge for 1.05 could change anything?

Is is a file archive for WinRAR.  It's like a Zip file but seems to compress a little better.  I'm not a technical expert that can fill you in on the details.  There's a shareware copy available here:

i also had this problem, i managed to overcome it by changing the name of the file of .rar into .exe

to do this

1.locate the folder on your computer (for me its under games then downloads)

2. rightclick on folder and click properties

3. click the general tab then find the name of the folder from    something.rar    into    something.exe

 

it worked for me although i do now have the problem that when i try to open the application it just closes it down again. i'm sorry if this dosen't help, but you can always try it!

You could use 7zip (url=http://www.7-zip.org/) It's free and can unpack .rar files...

IZArc ( http://www.izarc.org/ ) can open them too. They get treated like .zip files basically. :)
