Deskscapes not loading at boot

I'm running Vista Home Premium and Deskscapes was running fine up until yesterday when it stopped loading automatically at boot.  I now have to manually choose a dream each time I start my rig which is kinda tedious.

No changes were made to the system. I even updated tot he newest version AFTER I noticed the problem hoping that it would fix it but it did not help.

Any asstance would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I have the same problem. I bought the program 3 days ago, 2 days it worked as advertised but since today it is not working any more.

Its only starting if i choose another dream mannualy every time Windows starts. Even a reinstalling of DeskScapes didn't change anything.

Please help.

It's very odd that it would stop working at or about the same time for multiple people.

Have you recently installed any MS Windows updates?

I haven't installed any updates or installed any other programm since i installed DeskScapes on my PC.

But i don't tink it happened at the same time, this thread was from November 2008, i just posted my problem in here, because it is the same problem.

There seems to be a difference between *.Dream files and normal *.WMV Video files.

If I'm using Dream files nothing happens when windows starts, exept the pixel in the upper left corner changes its Colour to a green-blue.

(DeskScapes seem to think that the Dream is running, because in the Right-Klick-Menue on the Desktop "Pause DeskScapes" is displayed)

I can start the Dream files by changing it to another Dream and then reactivating  the previous selected.

WMV files are starting without any problems.

Do u have any idea what might cause this problems.

Windows Vista Home Premium (newest Drivers/Patches)

4GB RAM

Nvidia 9600M GS (newest Drivers)

Tell me if u need more informations.

FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED FIXED

(for me anyways, try it, it wont damage your machine in any way so you have nothing to lose)

Was having the same problem and the fix is easy... or was for my setup anyways.  Right click desktop, click personalise, screensaver.  Under power management, click change power settings.  which ever power plan you have... click change powerplan settings.  Click change advanced power settings.  Scroll down to Change windows dreamscene settings.  Now under powersaving mode, change the setting to "high performance" click apply and then ok.  If you can save the plan settings, then do so.  And there you go.  Now restart PC and watch in wonder as your dreamscape starts with windows.

Worked for me anyways, if it doesn't for you then *shrugs* dunno.

You should uninstall essential codecs pack or any other codec pack as vlc has its own built in codecs for almost all common file types.

Also if you are on vista home premium, then you have to install 3rd party mpeg-2 codec as it does' nt come inbuilt like in vista ultimate. So I would personally suggest that if you don' need vlc player then just uninstall all kinda codec packs n players, use K- LITE Codec pack- latest version as its installer setup provides you with all da codecs which you gonna install, also you can use this 1 pack with windows media player, media player home cinema n classic.

read da above post.........A BLACK SCREEN ON RUNNING DREAMS is " a clear indication of codec infliction or broken codecs.

its only .wmv and mpeg-2 which are packed as .dream (except for dynamic dreams)

So, the only difference is with the ones which are packed as mpeg-2( and its good coz mpeg-2 uses less cpu ) and since you are using home premium, you dont have da mpeg-2 codec built in, install a 3rd party mpeg-2 codec n your problem will be solved, Also make sure that you install only one codec pack at a time or else you'll have probs.
