Help making a docklet

I play this mmorpg called World of Warcraft.  Before using ObjectDock, I used the Vista sidebar for various things like clocks, weather, etc.  I also had a widget that would tell me, graphically, if the server I play on was online or offline.  I don't remember the code exactly, but I believe it was a simply query of the server address.

Anyhow, I was wondering, for those of you who make docklets, if there's a way to make a simple docklet (like the weather docklet) that will show the status of a server for World of Warcraft?  If the server is up, a particular icon will display, and if it is down, another icon will display.  It would also be configurable, so users can select or type in the server name.
