Activation Troubles

People over the last 24+ hours have been reporting some troubles with activation. We believe this occurred through some server issues and have corrected the issue. If you are one of these people please try your activation again. If you still have troubles after that please try the manual activation method. In the listed instructions I have linked here please send the required information to both activate@stardock.com and support@stardock.com. I will be sitting on these emails all day manually decoding them should the need arise. The most important part of the information you generate is the activation string.

An activation string is a long serial number that starts like this: m=1&v=1&a1=D13A622050BB308A....

I am no longer getting the activation error, but a 'maximum activations reached' message instead, suggesting the server issue is resolved and that recent attempts may have maxed out my limit.  If you could check into this and reset my count it would be much appreciated.  I did submit a ticket: CTQ 254128, if that helps.

Same here, exactly and literally... my ticket is... XDA-298013 ... and within that is my email and the registration number of my Object Desktop Ultimate package.

Thank you, Seabass, everything is working fine now regarding the activations, it is much appreciated

Just a couple of things: SoundPackger came back with an "error retrieving data" message and wouldn't download via Impulse. I was able, however, to download it via SDC

Also, I'm running x64 Vista Home Premium and I believe Deskscapes is affecting my Start Menu 'All Programs' list... when trying to open a folder it just hangs with a busy cursor hovering over it.  I had the issue before having to change a faulty HDD and clean install everything.  Last time it only happened after installing my Stardock apps but I was not sure which one and had HDD issues prior to finding out.  This time, however, I installed each app and checked for the Start Menu issue after each one... it only reappeared after installiing Deskscapes. 

There is a workaround by clicking the 'back' button and reopening 'All Programs', the folders are then opened and will continue to open while the Start Menu is Open, but the issue returns after closing and reopening it.  I also noticed upon completion of the Deskscapes install, all my desktop shortcuts reverted back to the Windows default icons.  I can change those, however, and I can live with the Start Menu workaround, but a fix would be nice, so please let me know if any more information is required.

We found the trouble with Sound Packager. This only applies to the available beta. We have a fix for it right now but there will be another update shortly. Please know that the next update will not be an actual update, just to the last set of numbers that are only for developer tracking purposes.

yes problems still, still WBlinds6 not activated - i read pm and tried - coding stuff way over my head - but when i tried to save to note pad i just has 2 options .txt. or all files - i named it what you said sig6.bin and copied that into the WB folder , im lost here - then dt wouldn't come up on reboot - had to go into safe mode turn all off to reboot - and it booted with with all security off - and now im here with this mess- i did try reg. activation again but same mess ( too many activations ) so now what ?????????

That sounds like a very indepth issue far exceeding WindowBlinds.

I have reset your activations so you should be all set to activate again. Or use the code I supplied. From what you said so long as the file was saved as sig6.bin and placed in the top directory you did everything right.

One thing I am going to suggest is to run a OS file scan.

-For VISTA Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.
 For XP Users: Click Start and then Run, Type 'cmd' and hit enter.
-VISTA ONLY: If UAC is enabled, click 'Continue'
-Type: sfc /scannow
-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
-When the scan has completed, it should give you some feedback as to the result

If you get a good deal of errors that say they cannot be fixed then you have a significant OS problem.

Window Blinds 6 is now " Working " - not sure what fixed it but i tried one more time and deleted WB from impluse then went back to SD central and re-installed it again from there - re-booted and it's working , when i tried that before it didnt work - sooooooooo i'll see if it keeps working and let ya know ..thanks for your fast replies and help - i've been e-mailing to support but got no help there ....... now last thing for now ,,, any idea about dream problem or must i talk to someone else - all stardocks dreams running smooth and then i loaded 3 more dreams 2 of mine and a master barron guic one 1 of mine and the master barron one run but juppie and not smooth and the other one of mine runs fine and smooth any thoughts there the problem , i un installed video drivers then re installed but no luck ... let me know what you know , please .... one last thing i can't post here or in any forum using IE or firefox , i'm using opera to make this post but i have to click on disable scripts to do it , what does all that meand and what's the fix ? .azdude

Wincustomize is written for Internet Explorer in mind and has had some updates for FireFox. At this time I don't think it is Opera ready even though Opera can use it.

I still very much suggest that you run that scan as I think something is acting strange in your PC. After you try it out see what errors are present. If there are none let us know and we can work on Dream issues from there, or since it is the weekend I would email support@stardock.com with a new ticket for the Dream troubles.

i ran the scan had to do it thru safe mode- it said some errors it could fix some byt not others - said ck cbs log - i sent screenshot of scan to ativation@stardock attn' you - if that helps - later will ck cbs log and see waht i see ...and report back ...thanks Az ...

im done messin with this for now - all appears ok for right now except dreams are still iffy - lets see how all is this weekend and i'll report back then az

AzDude - activation@stardock.com does not go to support I'm afraid. Please send it to support@stardock.com. However I am sorry to say that if there are errors that cannot be corrected that means very bad things. What I would suggest is backing up your files and reformatting the computer, it is likely that bad. Stardock software aside you will continue to have major troubles until you. No matter what I would suggest you back up your files now just to be safe.

Hello, I have been trying to activate since July 7th.  I can't use the app to activate because my workplace requires a proxy with authentication.  I tried the manual method several times but I never get a reply in the e-mail.

 

I paid using paypal which is a different e-mail address than what I send with gmail.  I tried a couple times last week.  I sent a message to support and my reply was "use the manual activation and send me an error" but I don't get any error or message or email at all.  I replied to support saying this yesterday but still no reply.

 

I'm so frustrated that today I decided to go to great lengths to create a manual activation e-mail using the paypal e-mail address that is on file with stardock because that's what I used to pay for it.  This e-mail address is an alias, so I had to enable relaying on my mail server to stardock.com and then created an account in my mail program with this e-mail alias and sent the e-mail.  That was several hours ago, still no response.

Please let me use the product I paid for!

I purchased OD 2008 Ultimate (upgrade ver) I installed all the apps included Soundpackager using IMPULSE. Soundpackager installed and activated just fine, but when I updated to ver 1.1.0.025 now it is asking for activation again. Also IMUPULSE reads ver 1.1.0.25 is installed but when I check the ver in Soundpackager welcome screen, it reads ver 1.0.0.0. What gives? I tried to activate by using my OD ULTIMATE serial and I get this messsage: Maximun activations reached. I don't get it. I purchased OD ULTIMATE just a few days ago. I sent an email to tech support, got a reply that I send them the activation string. I did that I received another activation string, saved it as sig.bin and placed in the soundpackger folder, ran the app again and it keeps asking me for activation!  All other applications are activated. I read somewhere here on this forum that the latest update for SP has a bug in the code and a new patch or update was promised for today.

i'm all activated now , but when i try to update vista logon and sound pgk - they dont work right and have to reload old or trial version , help .. using impulse

Are you using the betas or the current full versions? Click the Stardock Orb and uncheck "show pre-release...." and then update to the last release version. If this isn't the case please try a uninstall/restart/reinstall/restart again.
