Wondering (GC2 update question)

Hello,

I just used Impulse to update DA, but it still shows the original GC2 as needing update.  I also got a message telling me Impulse couldn't set up the download service due to my turning off most Windows services (Auto update etc) for performance purposes but it still allowed me to download a 2.7mb update for DA.  It also told me my registration for the base GC2 had run out (??) but didn't say anything to that effect for DA.  It still shows the base GC2 as needing update too.

Do I need to reenable my services and do this again to get this to clear up (ei have I messed the update up doing it this way?)  It appears to be okay... I just don't like how Windows runs a ton of garbage in the background, I'm an old school power user.

Sort of concerned I torched my GC2:DA install I guess, figured I'd ask before I try to fire it up and perhaps make things worse.

Impulse used to use BITS, however as far as I'm aware that's no longer the case, so that message might just be a leftover (especially if it downloads anyway).

About the registration issue though, please contact support@stardock.com and they can resolve that for you.

I'm having serious problems as well. I installed all updates for GCII for all three games on Impulse. Then I loaded up GC2:TA, and it said I needed to install the newest GC2:DA  update or TA wouldn't run!!! BUT I DID! So TA loaded up and it only said it was v.1.96. FTW!

Then I looked in the CGII directory and all the TA information had been dumped there.

Stardock, PLEASE fix this -- I don't want to lose all my templates by reinstalling.

Reinstalling will not affect your personal settings or ships in My Games\GC2*. Talking with the people who handle Impulse stuff though, it seems that a reinstall is indeed waht is needed in order to fix this issue (it's a result of stuff that had to be done for SDC in the past).

I don't want to be a bother but I would like to know if that's at all possible, what kind of stuff had to be done for SDC in the past ???

I checked my registration info and it looks okay.  It does list the GC games I bought except for my first GC2 game, but that was a different account so I wouldn't expect it to show... the update downloaded fine, I tried it and it seems okay.  Thanks for the reply though :)  Just seemed a leftover just like you said.  No worries...

... now back to taking over the galaxy for me muhahahaa :D

The nesting of the individual games within each other.

I kind of liked that Altarian Prophecy was nested in GalCiv.  Logically it is a sub-game, after all.  Plus, having it that way made it easy to see all the expansion packs of a game that you might want to get some day.  It was the first thing I noticed was missing when I installed Impulse on my new computer.
