New SoSE Hangs Regularly?

I have been able to play SoSE without any issues.  I recently updated to the latest beta and now the game hangs my PC within 5 minutes of a game start.  About 20% of the time it will crash to desktop, the rest of the time it locks up the PC (screen visible, music playing but no response to CTRL-ALT-DEL, Start Menu, etc.).

Windows XP Pro

ATI Radeon 9800

Are there any crash files I can send in to help diagnose?

When it crashes, do you get a minidump message? You might also check the windows event log (under Control Panel\Administrative Tools) and see if there are any errors logged at the time of the crash/hang.

Still crashes.  I've uninstalled & reinstalled the video drivers (latest) and the game.  No luck.  It seizes up about 5 minutes into play; either crashes to desktop or hangs the system (cannot see the desktop, just a corrupted screen).

Any thoughts?

Well, I uninstalled it and went back to the last stable release.

Screen update speed much better, no crashes.

/sarcasm on

Kudos to Stardock for putting the "don't show beta releases" option in such an obvious place.  I ALWAYS click on the company logo when I want to find the options screen.

Actually, just for clarification, the default in Impulse is to NOT show beta releases. You need to enable to option to be able to see beta releases to be able to download/install/play the betas..
