Stardock doesn't 'remember' the settings

Every time I boot my PC, i have to start 'Stardock' manually. I have to restart the performance options too, because the programs 'forget' its settings. Weird !!.

Has anyone a solution ?

Maybe you should reinstall the programs. See if that works ;)

Already done, on a brand new PC, with a new XP installation...

Sorry, I meant 'Object dock' ...ahem

create a shortcut to the object dock application and then put that shortcut in your startup folder, from then on object dock will load at windows boot. this folder can be found at c:/documents and settings/owner/start menu/programs/startup

good luck :)

also make sure that in object dock settings that load object dock at windows start is checked, if it is already checked and object dock is still not loading then do the shortcut in the startup folder. for some reason sometimes checking this box doesn't work (as on my PC) and the only thing you can do is manually put the shortcut in startup

Hi Dinotur,

Are you remembering to backup your dock theme?

Right click dock -> This Dock -> Dock Settings -> Themes -> Save current dock

This will enable you to reload your dock theme.

Thanks for all the replies. I've checked if a shortcut was placed in the start-up map (it was) and replaced it by a manually made one.

@ BigDogBigFeet: I had already saved my dock, but thanks anyway  for your advice.

Have you tried clearing the Object Dock cache yet?

Since you have already backed up your theme you can just do:

1) Close Object Dock

2) Delete everything you find in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Big Dog\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\ObjectDockPlus  Plus version

C:\Documents and Settings\Big Dog\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\ObjectDock    Free version

3)  Reboot

4) Restart Object Dock and load your backed up theme.

If you are still having problems after trying the above, then I would contact support@stardock.com.  Send an email with all your info OS version and SP level, any error messages you get and any docklets you're using.  Often downloaded docklets are a source of bugs in Object Dock.
