Why am I behind the power curve?

I have just purchased and began playing TotA.  Why are the other races building Galactic Wonders within the first 18 months of the game?  I have even tried playing with only one race as a "FOOL" intelligence and they still build Galactic Wanders within 18 months.  How is it the other races can build such things so fast?  Is this a bug in the new game?

Hi et1sw1064,

I am confident this is not a bug you are experiencing. It is simply that TotA changed GC2 from having one tech tree and thus one set of corresponding buildings... to many tech trees (one for each race in fact) and thus many different kinds of buildings. Some of these buildings are of course, wonders.

Not only that, but many of the civilizations have access to said buildings from the very first turn. An example of this is the Thalan civ, which has the temporal magnificenteramus building...which adds all kinds of wonderous bonuses, available as soon as you click begin. It is only natural then, that the AI would want to place this puppy asap.
