IconPackager v4.1 Release Support Thread

IconPackager v4.1 is releasing today, please post questions or requests for help here.

Known Issues

32-bit - None

64-bit - Vista Only: Uninstall sometimes does not revert the drive icons to the Windows default.  If this happens to you, either reinstall IP4 and apply Windows Default Icons or, work around this issue by deleteing the icon cache (per these instructions) and reboot.

Follow these steps (Method #1) but don't restart explorer.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/117229-icon-cache-rebuild.html

In addition, delete all of the files in this folder (before restarting Explorer):

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer>dir

Before I go off to install it once it's released I have a quick question. Has the shell issue now been resolved in 64-bit?

Ugh, no edit buttons.

It appears the shell issue is still present with 64-bit. It's almost as if IP does not load the icons into the 32-bit files as well. This pic below only seems to happen on 32-bit programs, 64-bit programs have the appropriate icons applied in the same area.

Only my desktop icons show properly, everything else is all default Aero regardless of what IP theme I apply.

The default language does not change when another language is selected in the advanced settings even after a reboot

I can't update to 4. In Impulse and SDC I get a message that the registration is not valid when I try to update. HELP!

XPP SP 2 -

This version (again) did not preserve my shell icon 'include' list - wiped it out & I had to re-add all the individual apps again after updating.  Preservation of the shell icon settings with updates is a feature that has been requested for a long time.  Any chance it will ever happen?

Still no information on the problem I posted above?

I've lost icons from many of my shortcuts on the start menu. I was using Aqualix Vista, and have reverted to Windows default, and I have tried rebuilding & repairing the icon cache but so far to no avail.
Even the icons for the program .exe's are reverted to generic.

I have IconPackager 4.10.172 (x64) & Vista Ultimate fully patched.

Any ideas how to restore my icons?

thanks

EDIT NOTE:

I have just seen the thread "Having a problem with Application Icons + applying Icon Packages" which seems to identify the same problem that I am having. I am uninistalling IconPackager now....

Yep uninstalling restored all of my program icons.  I have managed to reinstall and so far so good.

Updates over the weekend are unlikely.  Also, this post will likely be monitored for issues but the first priority will likely be fixing the bugs, not posting back here.

Having said that, using beta builds to find bugs has a long history with Stardock and all feedback is appreciated.  The symbiotic relationship between the users and the company has greatly improved the applications.  Keep up the good work!  :)

There isn't a beta unless that changed later today, and that post was made the 14th of October... on a Tuesday...

You'll have no arguement from me on that bit. :P

Yeah, I saw the same behavior under Vista 64.  Uninstall seems to have done the trick.

There was a new update yesterday, version 4.10.177 but there is no information given under History. I'm wondering if anyone could shed some light on what has changed?

I've also noticed that font file types do not change in 64-bit.

I have problem with the Icon Tab feature

When I want to edit an icon for a file and look up in the Icon Tab of the properties

the buttons text are all corupted I mean they dont show the real text

you can see the "OK" and "Cancel" etc are well a little bit confused ^^

has anybody an older archive which I can download?

I can confirm that in XP the button in the upper right is too small for the text.

I'll look into it.  Thanks

I'm having the same problem as chiwou82 regarding the latest version of IP (v4.10.177).

Don't mind waiting for a fix but would be cool if I could install v4.10.172 again as that worked without a problem for me.

Would anyone be able to advise where I can get hold of an installer for that version please?  I update through Impulse but don't think i'm able to check for older versions.

Thanks..
