How do I make good of this situation?

I'm playing as the Yor on a Gigantic galaxy with everyone enabled. So far the Drengin and Korx have been eliminated, leaving me as the only evil race. I would have helped them when they were dying but for over half the game I was tied up in a war with the Drath who refused to sign a peace treaty even though I was kicking the crap out of them). As a result, I can't get as many allies and EVERYONE is allied with EVERYONE cause they're all a bunch of pansies who don't want to kill people.

So basically, I want to attack the Torians (who have about 25 planets right next to me, seem weak enough) but it would result in a 5 civilization gangbang against me. My military is good, but not that good. I tried putting 10 ships in orbit around a spin control center but it doesn't make them any more negotiable over peace treaties. I thought at first that I could attack someone and scare everyone else into making peace.

I don't have the economy to run my war machine enough to fend off everyone before I get obliterated. Maybe I do but I'd rather not find out. Also, I'm being attacked from every direction (I'm smack in the center of the map) so that just makes it worse. My only allies are the Terran and Thalan (who are at war with each other). This game makes me wonder, why can your allies fight and you just sit and watch.. Wouldn't it make more sense that if your allies went to war you had to pick a side?

Anyway. How can I make it so only a few people are attacking me (from one direction) so I can kick the crap out of them and make myself able to fight off several people?

By the way, I only have the original GalCiv II, none of the expansions.

The best way to go about this is to park a fleet of transports next to a Torian planet. Assuming you are playing a moderately difficult setting (tough or harder, iirc) they will eventually declare war to preempt your blitz attempt. The way to avoid being jumped by an alliance is to get an alliance member to declare war on you - allies won't step in to assist an aggressor.

As for your Terran and Thalan problem, you made an alliance with one of them after the war started. Otherwise, when one declared war on the other you would have been prompted to come to the victim's assistance, or break the alliance. You can try to get them to make peace, but that's not always easy.

@Willy

You don't get a prompt to break alliances if you're allied with two civs who go to war with each other-at least, last time I checked.

You DO, however, still get a prompt if the Altarians are involved and you're of their ethical alignment (DA & TA only)-but it's one you can refuse, as it's not alliance related.

I only have it on challenging.. Maybe if I move my entire military into Torian space, it'll piss them off enough. However I'm so powerful I can extort them for money.

The Terrans and Thalans aren't really a problem. I formed alliances with both of them earlier, and the Terrans decided to attack the Thalans. I just find it funny that I can just sit and watch them.

The only thing I've thought of that I know will work is to build up enough military to defend each of my 70 colonies (about 400-500 ships), get orbital fleet managers, spam military starbases, and hope that it's enough that they can't eat half of me before I can organize my forces to counter-attack. My concern is that I won't be able to afford all the maitence costs and still make ships.

You might be able to the money edge of your problem if your enemies have econ mines that you can prepare to take rapidly when you start attacking. If you've got most or all of the industrial techs, you can quickly add quite a bit to your econ ability with a few constructors.

Also, limiting the worlds you take early to ones with strong cash potential and planning to repopulate them quickly with additional transports should help you keep income growing, or at least not declining too rapidly depending on how much your fleet production is costing.

That's part of my plan, the problem is they all have huge surpluses of transports and they'll swallow half my planets before I can react. Anyway.

WHAT THE CRAP!?

It said something about the Arcean guy dying and then HOLY **************. I was about 2 turns away from being able to fight that off but I hadn't gotten my morale and military resources defended yet. Then the next turn the Iconians declared war even though my military is about 10x stronger than theirs.

The ships are pathetically weak though.. I just tell mine to auto-attack and pop pop pop pop.

So I loaded the last autosave. What exactly was that? I was working on putting 5-6 ships around every colony (I got an Oribtal Fleet Manager on all of them) and suddenly BLARGH! I'm being swarmed.

(Doesn't want to let me edit)

I loaded up the old save, played for a really long time with nothing eventful (messed with the Terran-Thalan war a bit by giving the Thalans my old ships when I made new ones). Then the megaevent decided to happen again, only with the Torians. This time I was ready.

The next turn they surrendered to the Iconians. Well that was short-lived.

Also, some event happened that made the Iconians evil so they like me now. Unfortunatley they're allied with everyone already so they aren't going to help me kill anyone.
