Help - All components of Object Desktop Ultimate did not install

from Stardock Forums

I just purchased Object Desktop Ultimate and downloaded it, but all of the components did not install.  The only components that installed are:

Window Blinds

Icon Packager

Desktop X

DeskScapes

Sound Packager

My Colors

The following components are grayed out and not installed, and when I try to install them nothing happens.

TweakVista

Skin Studio

Icon Developer

Keyboard LaunchPad

Right Click

I don't see any buttons to install Window FX, Object Bar, Icon X or Logon Studio, but there are grayed out buttons to install Theme Manager, Enhanced File Dialog and Virtual Desktops.

 

In addition, there is this constant message at the bottom of the My Desktop tab that says "Problem retrieving update data". 

I downloaded the software today as a birthday present for my son and have been trying to install everything for about 4 hours now.  I am beyond frustrated and would really appreciate any help that anyone could provide.

You will have to be patient for a while on this I think.  I'm a regular around here and today I know I'm experiencing network issues.  When attempting to update components of Object Desktop Ultimate I'm getting 404 connection/server errors and others have been posting they're having problems also.

So, you're not alone.  When the servers get working again, hopefully sometime today you may need to do this to get Impulse to reset itself.

-Click the Stardock Orb

-Select Preferences

-Select the Folders tab on the left

-Click Reset Data

Right now that works and gets Impulse to properly connect from my pc it just can't resume downloading yet.  The 404 error persists.  So, I'm waiting too now.

I've also looked at the list that you did get installed and, guess what, you've got the most important ones to do a complete transformation of the desktop.  Believe me, you turn this over to your son for his birthday just as it is now and he can download tons of free themes from today through all of next week from WinCustomize and not even know that some pieces aren't installed yet..  Just take my word for it.  

Window Blinds will completely skin the taskbar, start panel and windows.  Have you tried Molten yet?

Icon Packager A couple of clicks and all the stock windows icons will be replaced with a custom look.

Desktop X What this program can do is amazing tons of free themes and widgets for it.

Deskscapes the screen background will be fully animated tons of free dreams to download.

Sound Packager.  Custom sounds to enhance your desktop theme plenty of free sound packages to choose from

My Colors a couple of clicks and your entire windows theme will be changed.

WinCustomize is up and working.  Just turn it over to him today and you'll have to pry him of the pc to get him to eat dinner.

You could also try installing the Object Desktop Ultimate programs using Stardock Central. This will not work for MyColors though.

Downloading and installing Stardock Central will allow you to establish your free one year of downloads from WinCustomize that comes with your Object Desktop Ultimate purchase.  If you haven't already done that then do this to get your son free themes this weekend.

Check the Wiki for instructions on getting this setup.  And, if you have any questions just post.  I'll help you this weekend and there are others in and out of here all weekend too.

What operating system are you using.......some of the programs available on OD ultimate won't work on Vista and some won't work on XP
