Nooo! Have I missed a chance to get into the beta?
Somebody said the beta participation ended if you bought at or before sept 11!
Between new games like Clear Sky, Far Cry 2, Spore, Left 4 Dead, one can't be expected to buy it all at once ![]()

2 of those games aren't even out yet either? ![]()
I think they said they'd let us know if beta spots were filled but I might be wrong. There'll be more spots in later phases anyway. The later phases will also be much more fun, Frogboy has said.
Go play Clear Sky and Spore and consider whether you really have a good enough PC for Far Cry 2 and... wait for the Left 4 Dead demo before buying it? ![]()
If your pc runs Crysis, it'll run Far Cry 2 ![]()
My pc is over two years old, and 1 year old since I bought a video card, and it's seriously the best pc I've ever had... e6400, 4 gigs ddr 1000 ram (overclocked ddr800 to 1000), and a 8800gts640.
Runs crysis at 15-20 fps at ultra high, but I hate 15-20 fps so somethings are sacrificed.
Left 4 Dead is a no brainer... Been watching the game for months. Far Cry 2 is already preordered on steam. So is clear sky, i LOVED Stalker.
Also recently bought Flatout Ultimate Carnage, Race 07+GTR Evolution, Ghost Recon series, and Assassin's Creed. Mostly due to having my new 40" 1080p samsung lcd, and needing some games that use controllers.
Not gonna buy Spore unless Ea does a bioshock, but I gave it as an example anyway.
Too many good games lately, hopefully Stardock will spare those of us caught in the good games trap and give us time......
Since I can't edit, over 2 and a half years ago I got this pc, the e6400, 2 gigs ram (ram was $240 back them for 2 gigs of ddr800 ram :X), and a x1900xt 512.
All I've done is add 2 gigs more ram (Prices are amazing now, why the hell not?) and added an 8800gts 640.
I can play everything perfectly except crysis.
If new games start giving me hickups, I dunno. This system cost me $1000 (Updated the components only). I'm hesitant to see if I should just get a 4850, or update to a quad core.
If anyone has any ideas, lemme know.
Alot of people suggest the 4850. If I get enough cash in the next few months I'm getting a 4850 ![]()
Hi there, I just constructed my new beast here only a month ago and I have the 4870! This new series of g-cards is a blast to work with so I highly suggest looking into investing for the price they are at!
I have a 4850, love it, don't really play crysis so can't say how it runs that but it has eaten up everthing else, it's the best price to performance card you can get IMO
You'll be able to get into Phase3. Probably 2-3 months away i'd guess based on little information.
You'll still be able to get in to later phases if earlier ones are full... but if you're not willing to pony up the money, why should they care about you? Sorry to be blunt there, but come on now. ![]()
I'm not saying Stardock don't want your money, because I'm sure they do. But if you're not prepared to buy it now then you can always buy it later. We are, after all, not even talking about the release quality game. You're only "missing out" on the very early stages of the beta.
Going by the catalog of games you listed and the hardware to go with it, I find it difficult to believe you can't fit a Demigod preorder into that budget. Particularly when you've admitted you're not even going to buy Spore anyway!
If you want the game, go preorder it. If you don't get into the beta now you'll get into it later. And in the meantime you've apparently got a few other games to be playing that will undoubtedly be more fun than what is not much more than a tech demo at this point. ![]()
No, not release the beta during this good gaming season silly.
2-3 months actually scounds about right for when I'd wanna play, as the new games will keep me busy till then.
