Chicagoland 24 man LAN Party, would love hands on with Demigod!

i run a lanparty in chicago, south subs. We are Avid DOTA players, Dota is about 95% just like this game. I plan on preordering this game on friday to get the beta, now what i want to know is, does this have LAN support on it? would love to get all 24 people playing Demigod at our next lan party. its on the 26-27th of this month.

so would i be able to copy it and let all the lanners that come this next lan grab it install it and play it VIA lan? im sure after most of them play it the preorders will fly out the door. and this game looks insanly kick ass.

lan sites.

The Beta is LAN capable, however, there is no multiplayer spawn available.  Therefore, if you want to play it with your friends, they need to pre-order as well

when you say multiplayer spawn? im new to this site, a friend just reffered me about 6 hours ago, but when you say multiplayer spawn, do you mean online play? but if its lan, can everyone play at lan? and has to preorder to play online?

What I mean by multiplayer spawn is that some older games (e.g. Total Annihilation) allowed you to only buy one copy of the game and then create up to 3 multiplayers spawns for a LAN play.  A multiplayer spawn is a version of the game that only allows the player to join and play a multiplayer LAN game, and does not enable online play or the single player game.  Unfortunately this beta of Demigod does not allow this, so the only way for you to play with one of your friends on a LAN is for your friend to per-order the game as well.

Also note, this version of the Beta does not allow online multiplayer games, emphasis on online play, LAN play, however, is allowed.

Later versions of the beta will allow online play.

Plus you'd enjoy it more if you waited for the beta to get better.

The game is 4-5 months from release.

That said, there needs to be a LAN and replay client.

well the preorder is 50$ i dont think i can get many ppl to do that with out playing it some how first.. would love to do what ever to get enough so we can get some games of demigod at thr next lan. and id be more then willing to write up an entire report of all the people there, and what they think, and suggest.

i know me and one friend are willing to preorder it, but 50$ for a beta is really up there.

so basicly the client  has to log in with key to even play?

This is false cause me and my cousin played togeather and i didnt have a choice to use his account of impulse cause he pre-ordered the game for me using his information (email) but we both were able to play togeather i just dont know how many times it can do this

One of the devs (I think it was Tyo, not sure) has said its fine to install several copies with the one serial for lan play - but there are a limited number of activations (don't know how many) so you aren't going to be able to have 24 people playing with only one copy - 3 or 4 maybe.

edit: I can't find the relevant post, so maybe they just said you could activate on multiple computers, not necessarily be able to play lan games with only one serial.

this would be awsome to know, as i will be preording this weekend. i host the lans every month, so i would love to beta this for lans at the parties no problem, we are hardcore dota players, and love any type of game like this, i can see this being a new fav for our lan.

could a dev please let us know about the lan? would love to get ppl to play it, and make them like it for some preorders.

The number of activations is kind of secret.. but it's a high number.
You could probably do it with 2-3 copies..
I don't know how ethical it'd be.  I would call it ethical because there should be a LAN client.

But this is a VERY early beta and your lan guys might not understand that. :P

they do understand, myself brother, father and a few of my friends have a BETA Resume that is huge, we know how to find bugs and recreat them to document them. I also report to icefrog for dota on all known bugs to help him out.

our group of friends are huge game buffs and know what we you have to go thru to get a job done.

I'm not sure this is going to work, given the number of PCs mentioned. As long as you own all the systems, we're okay with you putting Demigod on them (assuming this is non-commercial). However, you may run into trouble trying to activate on that many systems.

as of right now, i have my friend and myself with a copy, will download and install when i get home. we are a non for profit lan party ran out of a garage that was rebuilt for lans :) at most i would love to get atleast 16 installs going, so we can have 2 games of 4v4 going or have enoug got 5v5's.

Ify ou run into activation problems just buy more copies.

Daph, the problem is, there is only 1 3on3 map with only 3 of 8 demigods right now. And also no Generals only Assassins.. :)
