ObjectDock slow to appear (pauses)

When I use ObjectDock, I set it to autohide at the top of my screen.  However, when I place my cursor at the top of the screeen there is a noticeable pause before the bar appears.  I've tried using the performance options in the dock settings, but this doesn't address the pause.  It only speeds up the appearance of the dock after the pause.  In other words, if I set the performance level to very quick, and place the curor at the top of the screen, there is a brief pause, and then the bar shows up very quickly.  Has anyone else run into this?  Is there a setting to remove the pause?
