Survey feedback

Meaning the surveymokey one sent out today.

Just a quick note to say that some of the optional fields such as "Which of the following communities do you make use of?" and "If you use Object Desktop, what features would you like Stardock put more focus on?" are mandatory fields. Meaning users that aren't a user of any of the mentioned sites / do not use object desktop need to select something to move on to the nect page of the survey.

With a purchase rebate attached to it, this could easily lead to bad information returned, if for example everyone just happened to check joeuser.com for the "which of the following..." question, you might end up spending money on advertizing on a website people don't visit.

also no option to select Australia/New Zealand. knowing that there are a number from both countries this is rather poor on Stardocks behalf. Closest thing to select is Asia (Other), which does not make a good representation. and yet have several choices for the USA.

Fields that don't apply to you  just mark em not applicable or N/A, i did where i could

Questions 11 and 12 required an answer, none of which were applicable to me.  In both cases I chose the first response just to get past the page.

I cannot rate Stardock as highly now due to this survey. They need damage control on this. A) an apology needs to go to every email address the survey went to, and B) they need to state publically they will dicount any question that did not offer a 'none of the above' option that any reasonable survey offers, in order to get the most accurate information possible. Due to the above problems, this survey is now null and void in many respects and the cost of giving 20% to customers a waste of profits as they have little back for it.

Lots of companies make the mistake of unconsiously providing questions so they get the answer they want, that's what lays behind the way these questions were posed. It also smacks a little of egotism and self centred thinking, that all survey takers would use all relevent services.

I have to agree, it was a poorly thought out survey.

Heck, I'd have been happy to select 'Oceania' had it been there. Australia is NOT, nor ever will be a part of Asia.

The mandatory fields were a poor inclusion, as there weren't enough options to select from.

I think Stardock needs to find a company that can make a 'proper' survey ..the results from this one won't reflect user choices/input correctly, imo.

Was it run by the powers that be, at Stardock HQ ...before it was ok'd for email?

...just wondering. :\

The survey was probably done in house.  And I agree with Eric.  And I also had to put something in to get by that part because there wasn't an other or doesn apply box.

This question requires an answer.
13. If you are a Gamer, what types of games would you like to see Stardock focus on (check no more than 3).

I'm not a gamer, why am I being required to answer this question? My only recourse was to select "other" and state that I'm not a gamer in the text box. There were some other ones where I really had no answer because it didn't apply to me.

So Asia finally swallowed up Australia?!??  :(O

wonder why I didn't get a survey.....

After questions 11 & 12 not supplying a 'none of the above' option and refusing to let me go without an answer, I simply quit the survey. I'd still like to participate, maybe redo it with better options? Oh and my answer to where do I prefer to purchase my software should have been 'wherever is cheapest'. I have no loyalties to any of the methods proposed, so answering this wouldn't have been particularly helpful for you either.

Oh! I remember what the other question was. "Which OS do you use?" there was no option for XP *and* Vista.
