Why am I losing all the states?
Why when I start a game am I losing in all the states?
For example whne I play as a democrat, I usually am losing in even vary liberal states such as CA

Oh don't worry about that. You are only losing all states, because you are looking at the Political Strategy screen. Once you look at the current polls map, it should show you winning at most your home state and the opponent winning their home state. The first few turns are a bit odd in the game, because no one in the country really knows you yet. So just make sure to expand your awareness around the nation and base states like California (for democrats) and Texas (for republicans) will easily come into your fold if you are playing alright.
Sorry I wasn't that clear. You can click on the states in the Political Strategy screen to add up possible electoral vote combinations. You actually aren't losing these states; it's just the default screen.
I was actually looking at the poll screen, not the strategy one.
The issue is that after first couple of turns, my canidate is losing almost all of the states (except the home state)
I guess instead my question instead has to do with why is this the case? it seems that awarness is given too high of a value, or starts out too low.
I would think it would be more realistic if there were some states (like in reality) were "solid" red or blue. For example in today political climate no democratic is going to win in Utah, and likewise no Republican will win in California. However in the game these states are up for grabs for either side.
