Saphire 4850 should i get this one

Well saw this today and am sorely tempted,

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148468

Its 110 pounds delivered thats $198 including tax to my door, notice that its a redesigned card, 1.5inches shorter than reference with a dual slot cooler that runs 19 degrees cooler than the standard ati card.

Seeing as i have a 7900GS at the moment, would it be rank self indulgence to buy this now considering it handles most things at max pretty well, save crysis of course.

Looking for your input,

Alex

yup, i would go for that. I have the hd4870 and it runs all the games i have installed like a dream on max settings. If ya can somehow magically conjure up another 70 pounds then i would definitely go for the hd4870 :D

the new cooler on the 4850 seems pretty good. 19 degrees cooler is good considering it runs at 70-80celsius standard.
Have to create a profile in catalyst and alter it in notepad to make the fan run faster otherwise.

I've got a 4850 and have no problems running Crysis on "High" I've got a couple OC'd profiles set up that run the fan at set speeds to control heat. Best card for the money far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the swift replies, out of interest what OC did you manage on that 4850, ive read anything above 700 2200 is pretty much unatainable which is only a moderate overclock. But since it performs great anyway, i dont think its a big issue

Doronila1, well i look at it like this, the 4870 is 64% more expensive, id only realy consider going for it if the performance gain was somewhat relative to the elevated price. i dont think the 4870 is anywhere near that much faster than the 4850 at 1680*1050 at least which is the highest id ever use on my 20inch monitor.
